16 frames, 100ms delay, drawn in SAI and animated and exported in GIMP.
Almost two weeks work from sketch to finished. It was worth it. This scene is part of an ongoing series I'm making. The story is added to and inspired by the artwork I create. Basically, I think of 'scenes' that fit the basic premise, and then write a story excerpt based on the scene (follow source to read the story excerpt of this image). The result is a story that is told out of chronological order and in fragments, that gradually pieces itself together to form a complete story. The basic premise is that Fluttershy finds herself being the only known survivor of a terrible event that practically destroys Equestria. She embarks on a journey to discover what happened, and to seek a way to fix what went wrong. The reason why I'm taking such a weird approach with this project is so that I do not get bogged down, and am instead free to draw whatever I feel like, and thus keep the story flexible so that it can take interesting turns as more scenes are drawn. |
