Ruling Equestria is all she has to live for. If she stepped down, she'd have no real purpose. She'll outlive every lover, she'll outlive every friend, and she'll never experience a normal life. She's stuck.

Hard to explain. Under the right circumstances immortality would be an incredible gift, provided your closest friends and loved ones could stay with you, or that there were other immortals out there. But Celestia is one of what, three known immortals? Herself, Luna, and Discord. I'm thinking Cadence is just a winged unicorn. And she's set herself atop the highest pedestal and lived in the limelight for most of her life, to the point that it has defined her. she can't really do much else, because she has set herself at that standard and probably doesn't know HOW to do anything else. I still maintain that the friendship reports are as much for her as they are for Twilight; through her student -and the closest thing she'll have to a child, since if she were capable of childbirth we'd probably know about her kids by now-, she can experience at least a bit of normal living.
I just can't imagine it's a very fulfilling existence. On one hand you can mold the world as you see fit, on the other hand you aren't really able to know anything else. |

Basically, like I said; She's stuck. Equestria and it's ponies will always be changing, but won't. She can only live for others, not for herself. Selfless, but she certainly deserves for life to throw her a bone or two at this point. |

IRL friends come and go and it would be a miracle if love can last that long. Even if she outlived her loved ones she can either enjoy the time they have together and peacefully except thier fate and move on to new ponies or use necromancy. I don't see Cadence as any different from Celestia & Luna. As for childbirth: We didn't knew about Shining Armor for a long time so just because they're not on camera doesn't mean they are not there, also saying she is not capable of childbirth is implying she has no vag AND I'LL NEVER ACCEPT THAT AS MY HEADCANON! MOLESTIA FTW!Ponies will always be changing but me & The Doctor find change very exciting. But if you ask me any life-form whos lived for so long is a psycho, right Alucard?  |
