I really don't get the whole "LMR is a Pinkamina ripoff" thing. Granted, a) they're both grimdark, and b) they're both violent (most grimdark blogs are), but they differ in many ways. Pinkamina was (as I understand it) the abduction/abuse/rape/cannibalism of her victims. She was already quite insane before the blog started (in universe). LMR started out depicting Rarity's descent into insanity, if you'll recall. And rather than being about the torture of innocent victims, it was about what she was doing to herself and (occasionally) how she dragged others into it. One offer(s|ed) a window into the life of a pony that routinely commits horrible acts, the other chronicles the spiraling descent of a pony learning disturbing things about herself. Granted, for a while now the plot has just been... mindfuck. But a) I'm reserving judgement, and b) did Ask Pinkamina ever do that? (No really, I don't know.) If you'd care to explain what you meant though, I'd genuinely like to know. TL;DR: it's so late it's early and that means that I'm making an ass of myself by taking something someone wrote on the internet too seriously. Ta! |
