This is sad. This is very sad. Basically it's canon that nopony needs him. The ponies seem to forget about him awfully quickly...

^ I think you're overthinking it. Of course they care about him (if none of them did they wouldn't have tried to see if he was safe in that episode). And twilight's abuse in Hurricane Fluttershy wasn't meant to be taken seriously. She was just hitting the back of his head as slapstick, as a way to keep him from saying something that would hurt fluttershy's feelings. It wasn't anything personal, I bet a lot of people do that.
So while they do have moments that show that the can be mean. When they show that they care for him, they really show it. Let's not forget about those sweet parts too. |

There's a theory that, based on how the picture was taken with extra space on the right, the ponies deliberately took the picture that way so they can stick Spike's picture on it later because he couldn't be with them.
Its cool if you think its the ponies that placed Spike's pic there. Its sad if you think Spike was the one that placed his own pic there. |
