Crucifixion was a very common form of execution at the time. Honestly, I can't understand why the Romans thought this was the best way to execute people. As for Saint Peter's death, since Emperor Nero killed him, it could have been over just about anything. That bastard was crazy. |

@994: If you mean "best" as in "efficient", definitely not.
Of course being nailed by your hands to a 2x4 for hours on end with no way to support yourself up while you slowly starve to death to serve as an example of what happens when you rebel against the government (even though Jesus never really told his followers to rebel) isn't really supposed to be quick. |
