It has long been the belief among some circles that the production and circulation of such abominations found in Japanese entertainment is in fact a ritual meant to excorcise it's citizens' personal demons, allowing the country to remain relatively better ordered and productive compared to other developed nations. |

If you think seeing these static images is weird and confusing, try watching a Japanese commercial |
| Anonymous #1455417 3 weeks ago |
@Zancrow
Because it's not like a war was going on at the time or anything. Or that the Japanese themselves were excessively brutal and willing to slaughter both anyone that stood in their way and even their own people to win. No the USA just likes dropping nukes on everything. You do realize that more people died in the firebombing of Tokyo right? You only care about Hiroshima and the lives lost because it was a nuke. There is literally nothing uncommon about what happened to Hiroshima during WWII besides that a nuclear bomb was used. It was a war. People died. I'm sorry if it is so hard to believe that a nuke was not out of the question when any country would have used them at the time if they could. Now, more importantly, don't bring up something like this for a funny pony picture. |
| Anonymous #1455427 3 weeks ago |
@1455417
The firebombing was horrible. The attack on Dresden was horrible. The fact that we try to paint ourselves as better than everyone else is disguising. People who consent to being a part of the violence by joining the army die, and that's not such a problem. But to kill civilians is horrible, horrible, horrible. |

@RIG
North America and South America are separate continents. A single American continent is as silly as Afro-Eurasia. Did everyone on the Internet fail geography? @Zancrow Your right, America should have just invaded Japan that way instead of 1 million casualties, we could have 3-7 million dead. @Anon427 Most of those soldiers were either drafted, or in the case of the Soviets, Germans, and Japanese taken from there families to serve in the military. I hate to break it to you, but innocent people die in war. And they always will. Were the Americans, British, and Chinese angels in WW2? Of course they weren't, but they didn't start the damn war! They were trying to avoid the dang thing. But the ambition of Hitler's Thousand Year Reich & Final Solution , Mussolini's "New" Roman Empire, and the Japanese Government's "Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere" forced our hand. If you want to fight a clean and honorable battle against a savage opponent then you will lose.And then they will invade your country, suppress your people, and murder anyone they don't like. So, answer me this, if the Allies weren't better than the Axis would you say that the world wouldn't be worse had the Axis won the war. The side that committed the Holocaust, the Raping of Nanking, the Bataan Death March, and the invasion of several neutral nations. WW2 was not a White V.S. Black war like the media likes to pretend it was, this much is true. But it was not a Black VS Black war, either. It was a Grey VS Black War. And we (the Allies) were the Grey. |

.....More on topic of the image, Japans is a wonderful place with a lovely culture.
It can get rather pricey, though. |
| Zancrow #1456340 3 weeks ago |
Oh, man, I love how you can't say anything about American war crimes.
America was eager to use the nukes. It was a crime against humanity. |
| Anonymous #1456451 3 weeks ago |
the USA warned Japan to surrender, or nukes would be dropped.
Japan ignored them. |
| Edudl2 #1456557 3 weeks ago |
@Zancrow
Anon6451 is right. The US warned them, and they didn't take it seriously. You don't just blow off threats to use weapons of mass destruction, but that's what the Japanese chose to do. Besides, if we hadn't learned from that experience just how destructive nuclear weapons were, I imagine the Cold War could've ended a whole lot worse. |
| Jack-o-Lantern #1456657 3 weeks ago |
@Saint
I still believe honor has a place even in todays battlefields. The US could have won the war without the nuke, they had the better tech but they used the nuke anyway and many innocent civilians who had nothing to do with the war were killed. Victory without honor is a hollow victory. In the end it was a Black vs. Black war and both sides had sins they already atoned for so lets just stop talking about. |
| Anonymous #1456664 3 weeks ago |
@Saint
It is a common fact that Japan was ready to surrender. USA only dropped the bomb to show power to the URSS. |
| Jack-o-Lantern #1456738 3 weeks ago |
But if you are reading this Saint please don't take it the wrong way, this is the tone I meant for my previous comment.

@Anon664
They wanted a conditional surrender. Do you know what happened last time we accepted a conditional surrender? Added to the fact that they were trying to make this deal with the the Soviet Union (who had no actual intention of going through with it). And that the American government was only able to learn about some of it through cryptographers. They still denied our multiple calls for unconditional surrender. The Japanese Government still tried to kill there Emperor when he tried to surrender. @Zancrow I'm not trying to deny that America or the Allies in general committed War Crimes. Like I said they were Grey, not beacons of moral purity. But I'd like to point out most of those crimes were either to end the war that they didn't start faster or carried out by lone soldiers without approval from there respective government. And I'd like to point out that the Allies rebuilt most of the countries they bombed after the war. Would the Axis have rebuilt China, Poland, Russia, and the Philippines? @Jack An honorable defeat, is still just a defeat. I have no interest in becoming a Doomed Moral Victor But @Jack is right the topic should be ended. The war is over. What's been done can never be changed. It can only be remembered. |

Yes Lyra, I don't understand why they make a "Forbidden for Elephants" sign when elephants don't read signs.
Japanese Police officer: "There is a sign that will say you don't may walk here. Why are you here still walking, mr elephant?" Elephant: "I dunno? Is it forbidden. Well, excuuuse me! Mr police officer." |
