There's something just "off" about this Equestria Prime. No concept of death, mention of Holy Titans and such. I dunno, I just get a "small town with a dark secret" vibe from it. |

This is heartwarming and such, but I can't shake the feeling that they're in an alternate univers of their own, with an even darker secret than the one from Japplejack.
Also, it reminds me of this movie.

I don't think this will turn out to be as cynical as others think. The trope where everyone is in on "it" or whatever would imply n(e)igh conformity and in here Applejack is religious and Twilight is secular so I don't think the whole "town with a dark secret" will be in place.
If something bad were to happen, it would be Jappleack's influence more than anything. Also, Ponyville and the areas aren't that sugar-coated. They live next to hell for one thing, so it shouldn't be too suspicious if most are friendly. |

He's only letting the sand castle get built up nice and high before he runs in, kicks it down, kicks sand in our face, flexes his bronzed bully muscles, steals our girl, and leaves in an expensive sports car while we're left sitting on the beach, crying from sadness and sand in the eyes. Please, Gilardi. I'm begging you with all my soul:
Don't ruin, and I mean it, DON'T ruin the happiness of this. If you give this a dark twist (like the Crapsaccharine World or the So happy to be truth), I'll be disappointed. BUT if you give it a sadder but better twist (Like the "My World Still Needs Me" or the "Can't Stay Here Forever" kind of twist), then you'll become a master storyteller and will make us shred manly tears. |

you know what? Forget it guys. I'm not gonna second guess this. I'm actually going to put faith into the thought that maybe, just maybe, this is that one silver lining in an otherwise horribly sad, disturbing story. So many bad things, when you think about it, has happened to Jappleack's world. To the ponies in it. To Jappleack and her friends and family. Maybe this is that one, tiny, thing in a story that can ONLY end with violence and gore, that tiny thing that makes it through. That little ray of light in a cave of darkness. that tiny blade of grass that cracks through cold, hard pavement.
