| Anonymous #1451193 1 month ago |
Yeah, yeah, homophobes are secretly homosexual. I saw this coming a mile away. |
| Bristle_Brew #1451267 1 month ago |
Too long, so I just figured Vinyl and Octavia did a speech on how it's okay to be homosexual, which is kinda awesome! |
| Ananonymous #1451269 1 month ago |
so many words..
this make vynil and octavia look like bipolar, seconds before they were scared and unable to move a muscle, now they're all talky and so confident needless to say, their argument is more for their sanity and peace of mind, than to attack lyra what i don't like much of this piece of story is the absence of dialogues, they're more like alterned monologues |

@193
"Two characters speculate that a homophobe is secretely homosexual! Clearly, the artist is trying to say that ALL homophobes are closet gay, because all homophobes totally act like Lyra!" In trying to call out the artist's ignorance, you draw attention to how ignorant you are yourself. You're reading between the wrong lines, and it really shows. |

@302: The best part is that I never used the word "all". Or "ignorance". Or even said I thought it was a bad thing. I just pointed out that this is someone common. You took it all the way to where you are complaining about. |
| Anonymous #1451437 1 month ago |
@ 302
Wow... You completely misread what he said. First off he never called the artist ignorant he said he saw it coming. It was pretty obvious it is a common plot point in fiction when characters confront homophobes close friends of the same gender. As for the sarcastic "clearly the artist is trying to say" line, he never said the artist thinks that or even implied it. In fact at most 193 just saw the scene coming. As for what shows. Some of us are polite enough not to call people ignorant when they don't agree with them. Try to show more restraint in the future especially if you want to get up on a high horse about it. |

@ 437 (Myself)
"confront homophobes with close friends" I forgot the "with." =( |

I'm not gay.
It doesn't count as gay if you're top. :) |
| Anonymous #1451773 1 month ago |
@302: actually, many studies show that the most vocal homophobes usually tend to have the leaning towards their own gender. This does not necessary mean however that they are gay, they could be bisexual instead. But the meaning is, since they are insecure about their feelings, terrified because their peers would not accept them and even bully them, they themselves become the bullies. So this comic is quite accurate. |

Just as planned...
But even if is not true that is always a succesfull way to troll haters. |

This is a more common behaviour than you think. When cards are putted on the table and there is no more reason to hide, the person that few seconds later was trying to desperately hide many times get quite an attitude. They were embarassed cause they wanted to avoid a confrontation with Lyra, but when that become unavoidable they could only give up. |

Aw, now I'm disappointed! I thought they were just going to beat Lyra into submission, but now the author is going the bland old "If you don't like teh gayz it's BECAUZ YOU'RE GAY TROLOLOLOL" route like every other homophobe-phobe does. Oh well, at least I get to check off another bad cliche on this story's ever growing list!
Also, this page is way wordier than the last one! :( |

Any "studies" you may read about not liking gays being a symptom of gay tendencies are not very credible, since most studies about homosexuality on either side are always conducted to prove an already biased opinion since it's such a polarizing issue. People who are against homosexuality will conduct studies to "prove" that being gay is not natural or that it's reverseable, and people who are for it will conduct studies to "prove" that it is natural and that it's the people who are against it that are a psychological mess. There's no middle ground because any researcher who is truly unbiased is probably wise enough to study something else. |

Yeah, I think the "If you don't like the gay it's BECAUSE YOU'RE GAY" thing has done more damage to gay rights than it has helped. Not that this doesn't exist, but Media likes to use this Trope way to much.
It pretty much says, "gays are the only people capable of hating gays." Which directly implies that all the prejudice and bigotry gays have suffered are due to (closeted) gays. It makes as much sense as saying "If you hate women, then you must secretly be a female." or "Only a self-hating black person would be part of the KKK." |

Excuse me for interrupting this sizzling debate, but how long do you figure it'll be before the artist has Bon Bon kiss Lyra, or just confess her feelings? You know one or both is coming. |
| Anonymous #1457444 3 weeks ago |
This comic got kind of dumb during the thing with Octavia's mom, now it just seems to be veating a dead horse. |
| Anonymous #1457623 3 weeks ago |
@444 veating dead horses is my favourite past-time |

@52855 i see, that's a reasonable explanation

Regardless of moral message, the speech bubbles are cool. Nice that he finally ditched those gradients. |
