I'm curious. Aside from being attractive, what does Spike see in Rarity? Not saying anything negative about her, it's just that he's only shown lust and I don't remember him praising any aspect of her personality.
That along with other reasons (age, species, etc.) makes this relationship more odd. |

I don't think having feelings that aren't lust is complicated lol. Also, I was more or less referring to fanon stuff. Spike is too young for any relationship that isn't platonic. Except maybe with the CMC, but that's still stretching it. |

I'm not especially a SpikexRarity fan but for this particular series I hope it will work for him even if now rarity seem like a girl of rule not feelings.
The reason she find no one at the start of the story is probably another consequence of her quest for perfection based on generally accepted quality. |

Lust? What're you guys talking about? In the show, though he has a crush on her, Spike seems to demonstrate admiration towards Rarity. I've never seen him showing desires to date her or marry her. Instead, I see him deeply wanting to impress her. Even in his Knight Spike fantasies it revolves around impressing her by doing something heroic. Why Rarity? I dunno. Its all portrayed innocently but I think if the show had a rating for an older audience, we might see Spike doing really crazy stalker stuff. |

Will off the top of my head he could like her for what she repersents in her element. I mean spike is greed and he learns to give for others. So he could like her for that. |

They've never gone into detail on why Spike fell for Rarity. We can speculate, but there are no clear reasons as to why a dragon would fall in love with a pony, even a beautiful one. But he did, and his feelings are apparently strong enough to reverse a natural biological function in his species. |

Here's something most fans don't know about Spike's secret crush on Rarity. In season 1, Spike's crush was treated as a joke. He claims its a secret but takes great effort to tell all the viewers about it. Its also used as a recurring gag. In season 2, his crush on Rarity really IS a secret. No other S2 episode mentiones it. Its only ever "partially" mentioned in one episode and was portrayed maturely, handled sincerely. |

it was thrown in for Spike to have something to do during episodes. Rarity's an obvious choice because she's the pretty and ladylike one. also >deep down she has a beautiful soul it isnt so deep, she does asenine things from time to time but on aggregate she does a fair amount of good |

He is first and foremost Twilight's over worked underage child slave. Plus Rarity isn't the only pony the writers could have used for Spike to have an extra connection with. His connection to Fluttershy was dumped after the first episode. Pinkie Pie is also an interesting friend for Spike. His baking skills alone can be used to connect the two but the writers never do so. Guess he's more into cookies than she is in to cupcakes. |

@Whatevs Actually, I was implying the opposite. The writers have been consistently improving their relationship, and its development is probably one of the more obvious cases of canon throughout the show.
Also, the crush is just so he has something to do? Seriously? I know you don't like Spike but try and leave bias at the door. |
