I love how some people think that the element they have is their only defining character trait. As if kind people have never gotten angry before. |
| sigh #1446301 1 month ago |
Ponies that only ever represented their element would get stale so fast you don't even know.
People don't know what they like. |
| Takuto_Shindou #1446304 1 month ago |
@Yorec The point its not her element,that assertive thing is ruining her character,this is not character development it all. |
| Jack-o-Lantern #1446305 1 month ago |
Damn right Yorec! |
| Yorec #1446317 1 month ago |
@Takuto
Yes, she did take it Iron Will's lessons too seriously and she did hurt her friends feelings, But she also realized just how bad she had become and in the end decided she could be assertive without resorting to violence or hurting people's feelings. That is character development. |
| MGB_GT #1446321 1 month ago |
Yeah, it's not like fluttershy wasn't herself at the gala that night. They seemed to like her during sweet and elite mind.
The parasprite one is a real bore seeing how many times it crops up. If you came across the thing for real would you consider it dangerous? Most youtube commenters are a joke, the trolls however are quite pathetic. I tried asking one (quite the numpty) on what his reason was, "this game man," was what i got. Apparently thinking he's upsetting people when they actually point and laugh at him. |
| Takuto_Shindou #1446340 1 month ago |
@Yorec Hmm,yeah that's character development,but what about the best night ever?
She acted like a totally jerk because the animals were scared of her,what was the first thing that came on my mind? "She was never kind,she just likes animals that love her back,she's an attention whore" That was what i got from it. |
| FeralSocks018 #1446343 1 month ago |
My problem isn't that she took the lessons too far. My problem is that she used her own failing as an excuse to not pay Iron Will. He said he'd make her more assertive and he did. |
| BattleGT #1446357 1 month ago |
Takuto_Shindou What? |
| FanOfMostEverything #1446360 1 month ago |
@FeralSocks: Actually, she just exploited an obvious loophole. The whole "if you're not 100% satisfied" deal is usually attached to physical things you receive, which you can return if you don't like. Applying it to a seminar, especially one on how to better assert one's self, was asking for this in the first place. You can always claim not to be satisified with something, and there's no way to prove otherwise. The only thing that kept it from happening earlier was Iron Will's intimidation factor. |
| Takuto_Shindou #1446380 1 month ago |
@BattleGT
When animals like her,she's so "kind" to everyone,but in the best night ever,the animals ran away from her so she got pissed because she wanted attention and she wanted them to love her for any cost even if she was going to use violence. I call this is an attention whore. |
| sigh #1446389 1 month ago |
It's her special talent to be able to communicate with animals, dude. That's not being an attention whore, that's her doing what she does best and for whatever reason failing miserably at it. |
| Takuto_Shindou #1446405 1 month ago |
@sigh Failing at what she does best doesn't give her the rights to act like a jerk,she wanted to catch them only because they didn't like her.
I would've understand if she got sad about it,but being pissed about it doesn't make any sense for fluttershy. |
| Dumb_Rock #1446409 1 month ago |
She didn't want just their attention, she wanted to be friends with them. A mutual relation, not a one-sided one. If you had devoted your life to help animals, and they suddenly didn't want anything with you, wouldn't you be a bit upset? (Of course, Fluttershy being Fluttershy she turned insane, but still) |

I here by declare in the name of all things sensible, the man by the name of Takuto_Shindou, a total idiot who is on the level of Troll and Anon. I hereby declare his words meaningless and of no purposeful value. As so by decreed. |

I bow to Babbling's authoritay. |
| Takuto_Shindou #1446453 1 month ago |
@BabblingBrooke What are you talking about?Me,a troll?I truly hate trolls,i already defended people from trolls here.
I never disrespected anyone in this site,actually i always liked and treated everyone well and i always tried to be a good person. My opinion does not defines who i really am! |
| Yorec #1446454 1 month ago |
@Babbling
No hes not on the level of trolls, if he was he would have called somebody autistic or a faggot by now. |
| FeralSocks018 #1446460 1 month ago |
@FanOfMostEverything
Yeah, I guess you're right. I still think that, in that one instance, Fluttershy was in the wrong, but that's just my opinion. |
| Anonymous #1446489 1 month ago |
@ Like Yorec said, it's character devolopment. |

@Takuto_Shindou like Yorec said, it's character devolopment. |

Most of the ponies' personal problems can be attributed to how they all seem to have really poor self control.
Applejack is honesty, which is blunt and honorable. But being blunt can be harsh, and honor can lead to shame + lies. It's really the least harmful, but AJ has proven to be cross and puts her own honor pretty highly. Rainbow Dash is loyalty, which is both the enemy of source of pride. Her poor self control lets her pride get the best of her, leading to bragging and whatnot. She'll be loyal, but can easily get a big head about it. Pinkie Pie is laughter, which is pleasurable and friendly. She has trouble containing this rather hedonistic element, and we all know the result. Friendly + nice, but a little too close for comfort. Rarity is generosity, which requires a fine knowledge of worth. Her poor self control leaves her rather OCD, and unable to restrain herself when confronted with things she finds truly valuable. She'll recognize when something is more valuable to others than her, but when she wants it more... Fluttershy is kindness, a difficult one. It requires restraint and understanding. Which means Shy has the best control of them all, but she's still a pony. Patience runs out, and reactive behavior (especially venting) feels good. Twilight, being magic, is defined by how she explains magic. Controlled and exact. The "control freak" is somebody with poor self control, and tries to reclaim it by control their world. TLDR: He's taking the time... ![]() |

Exactly. There is no real issue here at all. All ponies are like real people: They're often self contradictory and often trip up especially when they're tasked upon to be hemmed as a social trope of something. When they are self aware of that fact, then they can trip up because of it. |
