This is sick, but then again, I really have to wonder if pedophiles are any different from homosexuals in that they are predisposition to be attracted to certain things. In this case hating a pedophile, while understandable, is still a form of an acceptable hate crime kind of like what happened to blacks during the post civil war, and the Jews during WWII...of course for a all I know it could just be a fetish, so the fault is his own, so take your pick.
Either way I've heard stories of pedophiles who didn't want to be pedophiles, and as a result, managed to get therapy, and change their life around. So, first and foremost, as long as the guy is willing to deny his preference, and get help, yeah I'm still going to be suspect, but at least I'd be a little more understanding. Also, #1460784, while I tend to agree with your last statement, keep in mind that the only crime that has been committed so far is thought crime. The moment the guy acts on it is when he looses all sympathy, for now, at least give him the benefit of the doubt since he wants to change. Also, a bit of fun information, pedophilia is simply an attraction to a certain age range; what your probably thinking of is child molestation which is the physical act. Also, while strange but true, not all pedophiles are child molesters, but at the same time, not all child molesters are pedophiles (no...I have no idea why someone who is not a pedophile would ever think of sexually assaulting a child, then again, I have no idea how Bush-on-steroids got to be president). Blah...I'm off to take a shower. I feel dirty enough without having to talk about this crap. |
