I don't know if it's just me, but I really don't get why people love him so much. Because he's fucking everywhere I look.

Heath Ledger's Joker.

I do think he was a great character played by a good actor who gave a great proformance, but I really didn't leave the theater thinking it was the GREATEST thing ever. Not to the point that I would go out and grab a t-shirt with his face on it.

Yeah I'm not too sure as to why The Joker is worshiped so much, but I've never seen ANY Batman movie or cartoon anyway so I can't judge.

Imagine a regular dude. No super speed, no super strength, he can't shot lasers, he can't fly, he doesn't use any super armor, he's not a mutant. Just a regular dude.

Except, his mind is so fuck up, that he can bring the entire world to his feet, set a entire city on flames, kill thousands of inocent people and find all these things funny.

I love the Joker. The fact that he can do completely demented things and make jokes and laugh is what males him so awesome.

But yeah. Heath Ledger was a cool Joker but Mark Hamill's Joker will always have a special place in my heart.

@Theopticals

You have to remember Heath Ledger died right before the movie came out and this was probably Ledger's best performance, which probably caused a significant boost in popularity.

Plus, he gave quite a few memetic lines in the film.

Personally, I still think that Mark Hamill does the best Joker.

I didn't much care the Ledger's Joker. There was nothing wrong with his portrayal, I guess. He just didn't seem that fucked up. It was like his Joker did so well not because he was smart or skilled (which he wasn't much of either), but because the rest of the Batman universe was just so incompetent.

What would have happened if Heath didn't die?
Would the character have been just as popular?

@ Theopticals Your right I think thats part of it, Ledger died and suddenly he the greatest thing ever. I think that Jack Nicholson is a far better actor and a better Joker.

Anon 4439 is a complete idiot.

Nicholson was a fucking awful joker - like, literally the worst depiction of the joker I've ever seen. Including Brave and the Bold.

He's fucking awful at it. He acts over the top and goofy when he should be being intimidating, and creepy when she should be cracking jokes. There's no center, niothing right.

The Joker's appeal is that he can make you laugh and then feel terrible about it.

The Mark Hamill joker is the Joker that'll always be my Joker. Every line I read of the Joker speaking, it is always Mark Hamill.

While Mark Hamil Joker was better written, I really like Kevin Michael Richardson's voice for the Joker. Kinda had a PPG Him-ness quality.

Well, I personally think the joke would have been better with pennywise instead of the Joker who actually commits crimes for fun.
