801 here. I happen to genuinely like Ichigo.I just suggested Tsuna because of his scaredly cat behavior and because Fluters and Ichigo doesn't make any sense,but just that. Also,I agree with you on Orihime.She should've done something in the Hueco/Taco/Mexico/Mundo arc,but she lost her chance and it seems whatever she's going to do to redeem it now,it will only make us say “wow,about time“ and then simply move on. |

No, wait, Naruto and Rainbow Dash are pretty decently matched too. I can't stand Bleach. I've forced myself to follow it up until the Aizen saga ended, but there are just so many problems with it I can't even begin to count them all. Like stuff that has gotten tossed in as an obvious marketing gimmick and then just left to rot offscreen. You people may think Orihime is terrible, but does anyone remember Kon? He was a dick, but I can't even remember what the hell happened to him. If you're going to get rid of a mascot, at least do it officially. DBZ at least kept Krillin around to use as a punching bag. Naruto did the whole failed marketing gimmick too; anyone remember Ninja Info Cards? Then they realized the real money was marketing to specialty contact lens suppliers and we now have 17 different versions of the Shanrigan. Hinata was just about as big of a disappointment as Orihime, really. Maybe even moreso. At least Rock Lee got his own spinoff comic, but seriously, for having the absolute most kickass battle(the one against Gara) in the entire anime series (and that's including everything else up to and including the battle with Pain) he hasn't had a chance to win even a single major conflict yet. I think that's why I find myself gravitating towards One Piece as my personal favorite of the "mainstream" manga. It has a full crew of around 8 or 10 members now, and it STILL gives a chance for every one of them to shine. Even goddamn USOPP has come out shining on SEVERAL occasions, and he's arguably the most pathetic character ever otherwise. (though because of those shining moments, he actually comes out to my favorite of the characters from that series) YuGiOh had a far more enjoyable manga series, which focused a lot more on games in general rather than absolutely everything being the damn card game, but even the anime was really enjoyable once i started following Joey. I really liked that Joey didn't have a freaking relic and was still managing to go toe to toe with everyone else. I don't remember if joey ever did any of the major ass kicking, but i know he at least saved Yugi's ass on a couple major occasions, so at least the side characters were honestly contributing, even if the final showdown was still coming down to YuGiOh. As far as DBZ goes, that was fine. Dragon Ball was far better though. The only problem with DBZ was the whole Power Level bullshit and the complete lack of any martial arts or... strategy. But they made up for it by being ridiculous and not taking itself seriously, and there was still gohan's progress to root for. Until the Buu saga anyway. The Buu saga was pretty obviously the writer going; "WTF!? Goku is dead, Gohan has picked up his mantle, and defeated an enemy that threatened the entire universe, where am I supposed to go from here?! WILL YOU PEOPLE PLEASE LET ME STOP WRITING THIS?!" So yeah, by the time DBGT came around, there was nothing left. I got through the first episode and just threw my hands up in the air in disgust and never looked back. Death Note was... a disappointment to me. I just was kinda going "Y U SO STUPID AND ARROGANT?! DID MACBETH TEACH YOU NOTHING?!" The worst part was that the way he was finally caught was such a bull shit trivial detail that had no REAL way of being confirmed as accurate, but was treated as being unquestionably accurate anyway. (wow, how's that for dancing around spoilers?) |

Stepping out of the Shonen Jump boundary, I think Nia Teppelin of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann fame is a better match for Fluttershy. |
