Yup, enslaving an entire species because "d'aww they're so cute we want to snuggle them/ do other naughtier things" sounds like a horribly douchey and completely human thing to do.
And don't act like it wouldn't be the most one-sided invasion since the Combine. Hell, it would be really close to if not exactly like that, considering we have more advanced tech, more combat experience from beating the shit out of each other, and likely much greater numbers. If we can kill each other so well like the idiots we are, and we can populate an entire planet, let alone a nation, we could really beat the fuck out of any species short of dragons that was unwilling to submit. Even then, we still have the nuclear trump card, unlikely to be used for anything but a warning shot and likely to scare them as much as it scares us when used on our soil. That, and we'd probably have reverse-engineered their magic pretty fast, or just been so slow-witted magically that we have dwarf-like magic resistance (so non-magical that we can't even be arsed to be hurt by it when it's used against us). |
