Yeah, that was a plot point in Boast Busters, where they talk about how its a big deal that she knows so much magic. And in A Dog and Pony Show they flat out said Rarity showed her how to do the spell.

She can already teleport with others. So pretty much the flame banishment spell is one of 2 things if not both. A fire spell much like Spike's where he can transport a scroll and a be a mass transport spell that works on others. However we don't know how long it takes for Twilight to learn the spell so 1 time use to seeing the spell or spells isn't enough to learn it or she's seen other magics similar. The only time she does learn a spell very fast is a spell she can't use a second time. I'm looking at Star Swirl's Time Travel Spell. |

that was still from a scroll though. that has different rules to learning than watching it preformed. All the spells she used on the Ursa minor were things she had apparently studied on beforehand. |

To clear up any misconceptions.
First Panel: Common spell to any unicorn. Second Panel: Both of them served under Princess Celestia(Shinning Armor as head of the guard & Twilight Sparkle her star pupil), but Shinning's is much stronger to keep dangerous threats out of Canterlot, not like Twilight who wanted to keep just three young fillies out of the library. Third Panel: Cadence's is a spell made to sooth negative emotions and fill the target/targets with love, Twilight's Want It Need It spell is an obsession spell. |
