LMAO! This comic never disappoints in how outrageously anvilicious it is, and that's why I love it. I thought that HeWhoErasesMost was going to "resolve" this incident by having Lyra come out of the closet, but my expectations were exceeded. As if the disapproving mom's house getting burned down wasn't enough, now everyone who doesn't approve of their forbidden love is in the crosshairs for physical abuse! I can't wait to see how the writer tops this, because anything I can guess will probably pale in comparison to how extreme what actually happens will be. Next thing you know, they'll be outright killing anyone who disapproves of them.

@784 Because absolutely everything in an indie fan comic has a deep negative meaning between the lines and is never done simply for comedic reasons or character development. Clearly.
Yes, you lurk TV Tropes. Very impressive, have a cookie. Now stop looking for hidden meaning that isn't there and try enjoying the comic for what it really is, instead of what you see it as in your attempt to look smart. |

@655: You don't seem to get it-- I do enjoy this comic for what it is-- a horrible piece of fan fiction that happens to be very entertaining. There's really nothing good about it, but that's what makes it so fun to read. It's almost like a parody of itself except that the author is taking it dead serious, which makes it all the more fun to read.
There are plenty of trollfics out there that are supposed to suck, and they're entertaining for a while but quickly get old once you figure out the writer's formula. There's something to be said for a bad fanfic that has clearly had a lot of work put into it but is so outrageously out there that you can't help but crack a smile. HeWhoErasesMost also has the advantage of presenting his story in comic form, which means that we don't even have to suffer through pages of bad grammar and spelling errors to access it. He tells his story visually, and the bad grammar is replaced by his macabre art style, immersing us even deeper into the twisted version of Equestria that he has crafted. Just because it's terrible does not mean that I hate it-- I love it because it's bad. If it was just mediocre I'd probably have just ignored it like most fan fiction, but this is a true masterpiece of a bad fanwork-- terrible writing, bad artwork, a broken aesop that's laid on so nauseatingly thick that it appears on virtually every page, the commandeering of already well-liked characters to deliver it, and the demonization of other established characters to act as straw men. It's everything that a good fanfic should not be, and everything that a good bad fanfic should be, and that is why I like it. 4/5 |

Demonization of well-liked characters? Because one character with nothing canon to base her off of other than 1 line of dialogue can totally be ruined by a fancomic, right? |

Hey, if one of my friends gives me and my boyfriend shit, I'll deck him too. That ain't "anvilicious", that's "acting protective of your SO". The house burning (did it even burn down? I only saw the tablecloth burn) seemed less "karmatic justice" and more "Vinyl getting revenge for her girlfriend". The characters acting like characters isn't dropping a moral bomb, it's them acting like two people protective of each other. And your alternative is "the homophobe is a closet gay"? Because that is SO MUCH BETTER? "Yes, let's portray all homophobes as being secretly gay. This will help make actual homophobes more secure in their sexuality." Jesus christ, are you twelve? |

@079: Well, you can't be sure there wasn't even a bit of homophoby on Lady Von Clef's reaction, she was clearly disgusted by seeying Vinyl surprise-kissing Octavia, and, given the fact Vinyl DID mention trying to make up fake coltfriends, she wouldn't react that badly if it was a regular stallion. (in fact, I made a question regarding that a month and a half ago on the "Ask Lady Von Clef" Tumblr, but that thing is kinda of dead by now...) |
