I think most of these designs are fine, but when you have some half dozen or so arbitrary black humanizations, it makes zecora seem a little redundant. |

Also, you probably should stop watching FiM, because 99% of characters there ain't black (and before you start nitpicking, I'm not talking about skin color here, there's much more to race than that - for example, albino african is still "black"), nor fat! I just don't get the idea of making white-coated ponies have dark skin: Their mane or hair colors are designed to go with a light skin or coat tone, and giving them dark skin just doesn't work visually. |

Young children are androgynous in appearence. They lack secondary traits and their voices don't mean anything at that age.

Really, this "racial diversity" thing would not bother me any if it was done with some semblance of the characters' personalities taken into account. To me, it just looks like random ponies were given "different ethnicities" for the sake of diversity. As someone opposed to PCness and one who thinks that affirmative action does more harm than good, I really hope this is a trend that dies off soon. I can applaud trying to include different body types as well, but really, the only pony I can think of offhand who could be classified overweight was just a colt. What the hell is up with Cranky? He looks like Cotton from King of the Hill. If you're going to make him that short, use proper proportions. And if you're trying to say he got his knees blown off in "the 'Nam", then I hold out little hope for you. I'm pretty sure the Flim Flam brothers (or "Borthers" as you've tagged them) are intended to be identical twins except for the mustache. All in all, the only two ponies I like here are Trixie and Derpy (or are you opposed to that name as being insensitive as well?). You have somehow managed to turn even Twilight Sparkle into something I'd rather not look at, and I assure you that is no mean feat. @Bluebell: Are you sure that's a slur? Do you personally know any transgendered individuals who take offense to this word? |

I think it's a given that a humanized Twilight would be black (Albeit maybe a lighter skintone than the one here), and Rainbow Dash would obviously be tan (It gives the idea of sun exposure, wich goes with the idea of exercise).
Still, we love them for their personalities, for how they are. The thing with Zecora was more about her being misterious and perceived as "strange", it was her actions more than her appearence. |

Fur color translates into clothes color, not skin. Don't be silly.
Being a Pony or a Zebra here means more than an hypothetical skin colour if they were humanized, and it goes beyond that, it's about having a different or specific heritage and culture, coming from different places. Not that it matters, as we are all equal. And chubbiness is not ugliness, there should be more fat models. I think Fluttershy looks quite "motherly" here. |

Zecora's, Celestia's, and Rarity's color combinations are fine, but I can't really give the artist credit for using colors that work together there because the designs are mostly aped from other artists. |
