In Last Roundup, there is some evidence that Dinky is Written Script and Carrot Top's daughter:
Sparkler was introduced as possibly Dinky's sister in Sisterhooves Social, and then Tootsie Flute in Mysterious Mare Do Well. So, there is a fair bit of of evidence towards this family existing in the show. Derpy's fans have yet to present their case for why Dinky is Derpy's daughter, however i'm guessing they have no evidence or I would have heard it by now. |

The original reason for the Derpy/Dinky fanon is that Dinky was, at the time, the second of two ponies with the wall-eyed expression (the first being Derpy, obviously) and the similar color scheme. Similar to my stance on Lyra/BonBon shipping, I support what the fandom has developed for those characters, regardless of how trivial the initial reasons are (and they're pretty trivial). |

@FeralSocks018: I only support fanon up to the point where it starts conflicting with the show. The show has not been going with the idea that Dinky and Derpy are related, but Derpy's fans keep pushing for it anyway even as evidence to the contrary keeps stacking up. It reminds me of the fans who keep drawing Vinyl Scratch with red eyes, even though the animators themselves have said her eyes are magenta.
The animators of the show occasionally throw us a shout out like Derpy's cameos and making Lyra and Bon Bon best friends, however when it comes to the internet's worth of lore that Derpy's fans have developed, they're ignoring pretty much all of it. |

While I completely agree with your point about Vinyl, I see no evidence against the Derpy fanon. Granted, there's no evidence supporting it either, but so long as it isn't explicitly contradicted in the canon, the fanon will persist. Of course, these are my own thoughts, and I don't mind one bit if someone thinks something different. Live and let live, love and tolerate, all that happy shit. |

@637: Then where is the father, and how come Derpy is never with her kids in the show if she has 4 of them? Your defense hinges entirely on the father being a unicorn, and if Derpy fans had their way the father would be Dr. Whooves, who is not a unicorn.
The thing that annoys me is that this whole thing turns into trying to disprove a negative. Basically, Derpy's fans have no evidence to refute the picture above, but they always respond with "you can't disprove that Derpy is the matriarch of a big unicorn family," and even if the show outright said "These are Dinky's parents, and Derpy has no children," her fans would still put a spin on it to prove that the fanon reigns supreme. |

@bboifatz has a point.The way some people cling to dead Fanon (Vinyl's eyecolor) is quite uncanny / scary. If the show were to refute the Dinky-Derpy relationship the fandom would never accept it.
Personally, I like the idea of Derpy as a mother, but I'm willing to accept canon. |

But... a long time ago, some animator said on DA that he liked to call that pony "Carrot Top", and found out that Bronies on /co/ had given her the same name as him did... What I mean is: "Golden Harvest" is official, but "Carrot Top" is a bit hard to forget... Tootsie Flute deserves a better name, btw... "Tootsie Flute" sounds so... random... |

this ALMOST my headcannon, except tootsie is Dinky and sparkler's cousin, not sister(yes, obviously i'm going with derpy as their mother), then their father(written script's brother) was lost on some short of timely wimely incident, probably on one of the first visists of the doctor to derpy, after that she(and ocassionally her family) became her assistant |
