A classic game that really does not hold up in the eyes of the modern audience. I mean, programming the joystick to make the ship rotate instead of strafe have been fine 25 years ago, but modern control schemes like WASD+mouse and Geometry-Wars-style dual analog are just objectively better, and the old controls just feel clunky and outdated. The new controls allowed the genre to become more accessible to newcomers AND have allowed developers to expand with new ideas |
