You can have twins from 2 different fathers, but the situation for it to be possible is a bit ridiculous.
Either way, I think him going "that makes sense, right?" Has more to do with the fact that he may know mentally that genetics is the cause, but that doesn't mean he might not have a small panic attack of doubt himself. |

But how could recessive genes work with only 1 of each of those races in each parent's line? Don't those require one from each (ie a pegasus genes from both parents and unicorn genes from both parents)? Otherwise the dominant (earth I guess) would win. |

I don't think that mrs Cake have cheated, but the blood tie mr. Cake have with the unicorn is stronger than what he claim.
If you look at his shape, he look taller than the average ponyville colt without being massive like big mac and the only other ponies having this carcteristic are the upper class unicorns of canterlot and the princess. So those those who say the Cake's baby are relate to the princess are maybe right but they can also be 2nd generation hybrid. |
