I like using the Postal Pummeler. It's more whimsical.

What a bloody disgrace.

A weapon combo that is effective, but takes more than W+M1 to work? How awful!

I like how people think that Puff'n'Stinging requires more skill.

So, in your mind, running at an enemy while holding down left-click isn't easier than ignite + weapon switch + melee, or airblast + weapon switch + shoot in midair? Since both of the latter have more steps and require more accuracy? Are you a stock weapon 'purist' or a backburner/phlog in denial?

Running at the enemy, circling him and avoiding his gunfire is pretty difficult, while with this combo you can just do a subtle M1 click, press Q and less than a second after that kill him with 1 hit (2 if that's the Heavy or an overhealed Soldier, but I agree that this one is difficult). Hitting a flying target that is in front of you or right above you isn't hard at all, even with the Flare Gun.
Yes, these tactics are effective. But honestly, they are just cheap.
Or I may think so just because these p'n's Pyros annoy me greatly and I'm sick of them.

And you are right at both of those, I use both the stock Flame Thrower (when I want to airblast stuff) and BB (for ambushing and on tight maps). Never tried the phlog though, but the lack of airblast kinda scares me.

I can tell you from experience that even with degreaser/axe, you've gotta ambush or you'll die before you can kill most classes. Pyros of course pretty much ignore the axe, as do Scouts (unless they're stupid enough to run right in front of you while you swing). But a Heavy or a Soldier will kill you before you can switch-and-swing if you come at them head-on.
On paper, the PP/Axe seems ridiculous, but in practice, it's really just a risk vs reward thing. Just like the Spy's backstab or the Scout's Scattergun (or FaN/SP is an even better example).
And I tried both the flare gun and the Reserve Shooter, and I ended up using the stock shotgun. The former leaves me almost defenseless against other Pyros, and the latter really only works on paper (3 shots and shotgun-speed reload, plus it takes a minimum of two dead-on shots while they are in midair to kill even a Scout (you'll get around 70 damage/shot even with the minicrit, and the airblast pushes them away from you normally, which means even more damage falloff).

Sorry if this bores you, but I love talking tactics.

That's okay, I tend to talk way too much as well.

I used to be the p'n's Pyro somewhere before Manniversary. I felt how cheap this tactic was, although there, indeed, may be some problems.
When meeting a Pyro, you usually airblast him away and either retreat, or try to blast him down with your secondary. Or you may just burn him to death with a primary, that one works too.
Scouts aren't really a problem, since you can just airblact him into the air/wall/corner after his second jump and finish him without problems.
With Soldier, this is where good prediction (or luck, whatever) comes in. If he's using a melee or a secondary, he's dead. If he uses a primary, you can easily airblast his rockets (even the DH ones, I did that a couple of times) and either kill him (then why do you even need the combo), or heavily damage him. You just need to predict when he will shoot (usually right after switching weapons or noticing you, +delay between rockets).
Heavies are troubleful on wide and open areas, even without a Medic. But if you manage to get close to him, he's dead.

And I think I sidetracked a little.
