I don't care what people say about you Rarity, I love you for who you are. You really are the most generous pony, but other ponies don't seem to care you have your own hopes and dreams too you wish to fulfill at any cost. Which makes them the selfish ones, not you. Rarity has the best character. She's pretty deep for a pony on a children's program. She's flawed, but overall a fantastic person.

I agree with Impious on both accounts. Rarity also is perhaps the most entertaining character as well as the most fleshed out.

Rarity is the best pony,i honestly don't know why everyone hates her! She's the kindest in the mane 6,she offered making dresses for them all and when they asked her to do all over again she did without complaining,knowing she would fail in the presentation,that's what i call a beautiful heart. When discord made everyone evil she was the ONLY one that gave a shit about twilight,she actually allowed her to help carrying the stone and said "thank you". People only sees her character as the mean popular girl that cares about beauty stereotype,but they forget that they got that stereotype to develop and turn into a very generous and kind person,and that's rarity.

She always gets something new, and her character is the deepest of the Mane 6. Applejack will never change, Fluttershy episodes will ALWAYS involve her working up her fucking confidence because that's all the writers know how to do with her, Rainbow Dash has been made the buttmonkey (although she was amazing in Hurricane Fluttershy, more of that please) and there's not a lot you could do with Pinkie Pie unless you want to teach a mature lesson. Don't ask me to explain that one, it'll take a few pages. Just think about it. Really, the only other main character anywhere near as deep as Rarity at the moment is Twilight. Hopefully this changes in season 3.

@Impious Totally agreed,the rest in the mane 6 are cartoonish,you can describe what they say,think and do in 1 word. Rarity in the other hand,is a totally original character,i've never seen nothing like her and twilight's character is as deeper as an anime character. Both are best ponys

I love Rarity. Especially when she goes into plangent histrionics. She has an interesting conflict, or at least duality, in her character: she's usually focused on the beautiful and superficial, but when it comes down to the wire, she's more than that, truly exemplifying the element of generosity. Though indeed a lady, she has on more than one occasion gotten her hooves dirty like any stallion would (Sisterhooves Social, fighting changelings, threatening dragons). Sometimes thoroughly classy and composed, sometimes dramatic and neurotic at the drop of a hat. And, she is a very pretty pony. She is an amazing pony. (But she is not best pony - just a very close second.)

@Feral, 354: If you read the descriptions of every sign, you'll see that most of them fit. The descriptions are made of vague statements that everyone can recognize themselves in, and compliments that everyone believes are true about themselves. Take Brooke's Pisces/Libra description. Everyone daydreams, and everyone would describe themselves as pleasant. Most of that description applies to me, and I am neither Pisces nor Libra.

I never understood the whole "she has goals that she wants to attain, she does these things for herself, therefore she isnt generous" thing. Saying that she cant be generous and attentive to her own desires is actually rather selfish in itself. It's imposing your values and ideas onto someone else, telling them what you think they should do. When you look at her misdeeds versus her good deeds and compare them to other ponies it's all pretty consistent. Rarity makes plenty of mistakes but she also does the most good, as befitting her element (an act of generosity is more impressive than simple acts of kindess, loyalty, joy and truth largely because it sort of encompasses those things). The fact that she struggles with generosity is her main flaw, because if she was perfectly generous she'd a massive flaw to balance her out. Also generosity is the most detrimental and parasitic element, so it makes sense that it's bearer would struggle with it. Selfishness and generosity seem to make people into drooling hypocrites when you bring them up.
