Literally the only thing that could of made Other M decent in my own arrogant opinion which I assume is fact |
| Jack-o-Lantern #1430147 1 month ago |
@PonyRIG
I actually liked Samus having emotions and not being some stupid bland emotionless R63 Boba Fett like most of the western fans wanted. |
| PonyRIG #1430149 1 month ago |
the fanbase says the voice acting was terrible, luckily Nintendo learned his lesson and hired better VA for Uprising, have you heard Hades's voice? HOW YOU CAN SAY IS NOT AWESOME?! |
| PonyRIG #1430153 1 month ago |
@jack: yeah, but Samus having emotions was whta the fandumb complained most, think is their version of "vinyl's eyes color". |
| Anonymous #1430160 1 month ago |
It wasn't Samus having emotions that was the problem
It was the blatant sexism, terrible writing, Samus's voice actor have the range of a piece of driftwood, "GRAPPLE IS NOW AUTHORIZED", and fucking bunny Ridley. |

^ That's why I didn't like it. |

Higgs was the only good thing about that shitty game. IMA TEACH YOU A LESSON IN SUBTLETY!!
But it isn't the fact that they gave Samus more character that was the problem. The problem is that they turned her into a whiny, angsty submissive bitch with daddy issues. Samus has always been an intelligent, independant warrior with a selfless heart and a will of iron, she didn't need a voice to have character. Sakamoto completely rewrote her character as a part of his ridiculous fanfiction. |

The gameplay was crap too, come to think of it. |
| Impious #1430199 1 month ago |
Actually, gameplay-wise this game was incredibly gameplay-wise. It felt like Super Metroid. I love Samus's insane brutality and incredible speed, and the plasma beam had such sexy *OOMPH*. It was the horrifyingly fanfiction-bad story and terrible voiceacting and shoddy level design and literally everything else that made it a terrible game. Enjoy your painful cutscenes- you can't skip them |

Which one, the stoic, quiet, selfless determinator or the emotional train wreck of a mary sue? |
| Jack-o-Lantern #1430274 1 month ago |
Both |

Well, I'm willing to believe that Samus is emotionally wrecked. She hasn't exactly had a pleasant life and has basically lost everyone close to her -some by her own hand- and she is basically utterly alone. But that's the appeal of her character- Even with all the shit life has thrown at her, she's still remarkably strong and independent, and isn't afraid to do what's right even if it's at her expense.
Other M just painted her as this floppy, socially inept dumb bitch that would take orders from a rock. Yeah sure you stupid broad, walk through the hot lava area without protection because someone told you to. |

The hot lava area without protection part; Women can be so stubborn to the point where things get ridiculous, trust me I know from experience. |

I think the main problem with Other M was the failure to integrate the story and gameplay. The biggest example of this is, of course, the Pyrosphere Hell Run. I never personally had a problem with it, having done numerous Norfair Hell runs and Varia suit skips, but it didn't fit with the story at all. I can see what they were trying to do with it, likely as a callback to the aforementioned Hell Run, but the upgrade system completely screwed the intended effect.
And you can tell they tried not to draw attention to it, since from the moment you enter the Pyrosphere Adam stops talking. Hence I consider that one in particular a plot hole (caused by gameplay/story segregation) as opposed to any failure on Samus' part. Later in the game, Samus WILL turn on upgrades without Adam's consent , most notably the Screw Attack and Space Jump even before his death, accompanied by the line "Any objections, Adam?" which was a nice touch, in my opinion. |

First thing that I thought of was Demoman doing a parody of this.
So Pinky -> Demoman -> That real guy |

Even the gameplay wasn't that good. It basically boiled down to dodge, overblast, repeat for several minutes. And stuff took so, SO tediously long to kill, oh good heavens. |
