Yes, complain about genuinely good cartoons being offensive. That way, they can be watered down and made more politically correct, ensuring that they'll be just as insipid and boring as the rest of the inoffensive crap that populates TV. Good job. |

Correlating "offensive" with "good" is unfair. The show's good parts have nothing to do with its faults. Furthermore, it's hypocritical. Everyone has things they consider "politically incorrect" or whatever else they call it. |

Over the Barrel had legitimate problems, Feeling Pinkie Keen is probably not that bad but pissed me off anyway, and the series treatment of other-than-pony groups is an unsettling trend. This list is still mostly bullshit. |

Fair enough, but some of the things that people dismiss as "butthurt" really are bad. And my original objection was to the false dichotomy between "politcally correct crap" and "daring, offensive, good art". There is nothing inherently virtuous about violating social conventions; virtue is found in the ability to question them, not in answering the question "no". The show's high quality is based on defying the stereotypes of a girl's cartoon, but only because those conventions were bad to begin with. Defying principles such as "boys and girls both deserve respect" would only make it worse. |

The Amish example seems iffy. Don't Amish people live simple lives on farms with little to no luxuries? So much media has portrayed the Amish like this that this example doesn't really work.
Also, the Applejack thing makes me think OP is trolling. Either that, or they're trying really hard to be offended by things. Most of the other stuff is taking it a bit too far (pretty much anything Spike-related), but I'll admit OP makes some valid points (mainly Screwloose, Gypsy, Wigwam, Over A Barrel). |
