Having seen the strawberry shortcake reboot I can say that yeah, it's pretty much exactly what you expect.
That said, stylistically the designs would work soooooo much better in 2D as opposed to the 3D as would the care bears. The only 3D cartoon on the hub that doesn't look like crap is transformers prime because most of the characters are robots and those that aren't are stylized in an angular style that works better in 3D opposed to rounder, cutsier designs. That's not to say that 3D CAN'T be used for cute characters but it's not 3D you're gonna find on hub any time soon unless they start running Pixar movies. TL;DR: 2D is good for circles and circles are good for cute. 3D is good for angles and angles are good for cool. |

The 2003 Strawberry Shortcake was awesome; I loved watching it on HBO Family. The new toy line is horrible though. Have you seen Orange Blossom? |

@Offensise: You got a point here about angle and 3D. There is more than one cartoon that uses 3D with caracters made of polygons and angles but I never see any successfull one that do otherwise. |
