I think it's regional. I had someone tell me once that in some areas "y'all" is 2nd singular or plural, and "all y'all" is 2nd plural (I guess to remove ambiguity?). |

In that case, I'd like "ya'll" to stop equating all Slavics as Russians, please. Wait, no I can't. Because you can't really influence what people from different regions think of your's. It's part of the regional accent. Other people who have English as their native language don't know how to use "ya'll" properly, and since the internet is composed if millions of people, all from different places on the world, well.... Point is, it's not part of the proper/official English language, and as such, don't expect people to know how to use it. /rant Also, I have no idea why I typed so much right now. Oh well. |

Around friends, I tend to use "vous" for 2nd-person plural. It tends to make things both more and less confusing.
@-Lunacy: Nah, that turns us into Reddit. A "flag" button would be nice, though. Enough flags and the IP is b& for a short while. |

"Thou" was originally second-person singular while "you" was second-person plural. Thou and its related conjugations fell out of use leaving "you" to pull double duty. Now people consider "you" singular and are creating new words to fill the gap. |

Hell no she's not making a mistake, y'all is perfectly good speech and eminently acceptable for the second person plural. All y'all who disagree are not from Texas and therefore don't count. |
