I dated a Homestuck fan for a while. I found the fandom obnoxious and the series uninteresting, plus the way the troll characters talk gives me a headache. |

Homestuck is a really good fandom. Most of the bad noise comes from the people who don't even want to try it (trust me). It emphasizes on very likable and compelling characters, their personalities and unique abilities, and a very clever plotline. Its very memedic, it has great videos and music and a very lighthearted yet dramatic theme.
Y'know, most of the things we watch MLP for. The first arcs are quirky, and the later ones are downright clever. |

Homestuck's fandom (from what I've seen) is like a mirror image of bronies. The porn, the fanart, the crossovers, the porn, the shipping, The only groups that this fandom has that I'm not sure homestuck fans have are the "porn is bad and wrong and u sudnt cum here" people and the "WE ARE NOT [fanbase name] BECAUSE [fanbase name] ARE INSANE RABID FANS AND WE WANT TO LOOK COOL FOR BASHING SOMETHING THAT COOL PEOPLE BASH BUT STILL ENJOY IT" people |

I know that homestuck and it's fandom isn't for everyone, and of course it's more than ok to dislike it for any reason.
But hearing some bronies hating on other fandoms makes me sad honestly. Because aren't we who started the whole "love and tolerance" thing? And trust me, there are fandoms that I cannot stand because of various reasons, but I don't just go around and start randomly bashing it. |

I'm part of the Homestuck fandom and while I do say that some parts of it is cool, other parts (like the gay-loving parts, my god do the fangirls go INSANE for de gays) and can very easily get on your nerves. A warning: If a Homestuck fan seems more interested in the Trolls than the main 4 Kids, then they're probably the kind of fan I'm talking about. |

I've never met a fanbase that was more annoying than the people who hate them. Of course, I ascribe bad behavior to individuals, without letting it pollute my opinion of unrelated traits they may have. |

It's hard to find the beginning interesting when all you've heard about from the fans is the death, alternate universes and time travel. The pacing is all over the place, as is the mood. While most of the cast is very well written, the female characters are notably less interesting. And there's far too many Homestuck cosplayers at every Con we've gone to.
That said, it's one of my all-time favorite webcomics. I try not to be an obnoxious fan about it, but hey, like ponies, sometimes it comes through. |
