It was my understanding that the moral majority translated well into Bronydom, especially on a well-moderated site like EqD.

If you read their news fairly often you can often catch subtle hints that Sethisto kind of hates his own site readers to an extent. Sometimes mentioning things like "before ponies became such srs bsns" and such. Oh, and here's when they featured an artist spotlight on JJ:

Out of the first thirty comments on the JJ spotlight, only one was outright hateful towards him and three or four just seemed kind of uncomfortable with some of his work without actually condemning him or launching into a tirade. If you read the whole comment section you'll see it evolved into a tiny shitstorm... and that's common there. Over and over again through their comment voting system, from gathering support to change derpy, to tattling to Hasbro to get Tara to have to take down her own private twitter post. Of course it's not EVERYONE but it's a sizable and concentrated group that runs things there. |

I wouldn't say that I "love to defend them" so much as believe in nuance over accentuating the negative. I read further down, and only three or four people joined sovbrony in actively denouncing JJ. The rest were mainly supportive with a few who expressed mild discomfort with some of JJ's content. That jerks exist there I do not dispute, but the broadness of the brush you're painting them with is disproportionate to the number of troublesome individuals I've seen. I happened to be around for a few of the Derpy and Tara Strong twitter discussions, and I saw the same thing there: a handful of troublesome individuals and a majority that were mostly reasonable. |

When you repeatedly insisted on differentiating between "White Knights" and "regulars", with "white knights" referring to those that expressed any tiny amount of dislike for a particular image, which you assumed was due to moral reasons. And you demonized those moral reasons without ever addressing them specifically, as if they were immoral merely by virtue of being moral reasons. And what's worse, nobody is willing to admit that people who have morals or preferences have a right to exist. Instead, they're trying to label them a "bad hateable MINORITY" in order to further marginalize them from the in-crowd. Much easier than listening to them. |

What I'm getting at is that there's a middle ground. I certainly prefer ponibooru, but I don't hate other pony sites. I don't mind the more risque art (and even enjoy a fair bit of it) but I don't begrudge people who are uncomfortable with it so long as they are civil (unlike John here or sovbrony at EQD). |

I won't assume to speak for Dax but I will address your statement none the less speaking only for myself. What we have here is called a "dialogue." People have the right to say their piece and downvote opinions into oblivion. People then also have the right to be irked by that and speak out against it. Then, those former we had mentioned have the right to redress those complaints (as you are doing) or add new ones. Then, the latter party can once again make their case and address the situation. That's how it works. The reason people are upset by "morals" is because they are invariably being pushed upon them. They are essentially being told they are in the wrong for finding humor, titillation, or whatever in an image or concept. They are judged and downvoted and otherwise marginalized and so take offense. Then, when the shoe is on the other foot the "White Knights" (so to speak) are FLABBERGASTED that people are so immoral and hate their great and wonderful morals so much. After all, they are just trying to "protect" the fandom from it's own members. (albeit the members they don't like.) So it goes on and on in a circle. The good thing about Ponibooru though is it can be derailed with gifs:  |
