I know I suck at art and I'm not focused enough to finish a story. That's why I vector.

Seriously? I'm glad. If it wasn't for pony artists better than me, there'd be nothing to clop to. O;-)

There are always people better at things then you. You can't just sit in a corner and cry all day about it.

At one point those artists were at your skill level. It takes practice to get good at an art; you won't just get better by wishing.

I'm a writer who reads a lot. I'm used to thinking other artists are better then me and I don't mind.

Eh, at some point you have to realize that being better than someone at something doesn't mean anything. Happiness that comes from superiority is fleeting and often harmful in the process. You can get more done if you're not worrying about how well others are doing it, and be happier, too.

Thank you to everyone who commented. I apologize for whining and for coming off as my title. I was just curious about how others felt about what I feel right now. Guess its just a part of growing as a writer.

I get jealous. Heck I get mad. But I don't focus it on those better than me, I just focus it on improving my own work.

Well I practice more then, I'm not the best, neither I can expect to be like JJ, Madmax or others, but improvement is great, and something it must be aimed if you are an artist

People like my stuff well enough, and I can only get better with practice anyway.

Honestly, when I see a really good piece, I get a bit discouraged then it passes.
Use the better works to aspire to, but use your own past works as a benchmark and try to improve on or learn from them when you can.

It's pointless trying to be the best, just try to be your best.

For 99.999% of the people doing *anything*, there are plenty of others who are much better than them at it.

If you let this bother you unduly, you might as well give up on everything.

Sometimes I get so frustrated at my lack of talent while looking at other peoples pony work I want to bash my hands with a hammer just so I have an excuse for being so shitty at drawing.
But it's not just talent that I get envious about. Seeing others produce art regularly also reminds me about how, uninspired, unfocused and uncommitted I am about improving myself and my artwork.
It's not just me trying to be the best under the sun, even in my close circle of friends I have times when I seethe with envy at their seemingly effortless talent in fields I try to devote myself to.

I'm not very good at drawing but I have got a lot better because I have been inspired by those pictures posted here, and elsewhere, that truly are fantastic.

I've been writing stories in one form or another since i was old enough to hold a keyboard, still not very good at it mind, but I've still been inspired to continue, and to improve myself, by those fanfictions and other works. ("I aint got no akksent" is brilliant)

It doesn't matter how good you are, so long as you are always getting better.
I apply that saying to my whole life, if only everybody did then we'd never have problems *sigh*

@ Wafflecannon

That's true for myself as well. I f I could just focus my energy in one direction I could improve and become really good but I can't seem to commit to any one medium. I do a little bit of drawing, it looks okay then I quit because I'm afraid I can't keep it up and or better. Same goes for writing. I get a great idea and start typing then when I read someone else's fic I decide mine isn't good enough so I put it away.

It also feels like with so many talented writers and artists in the fandom, I wouldn't even make a dent if I tried.

See, I want to write fan fiction, but every time I try to write something down in my notebook, my pencil always looks like this

so I just turn around and cry.

^ That is a completely appropriate reaction to seeing your pencil look at you like that. If anything, you're underreacting.

I write, and I really enjoy my work. When I see something that's better, I just enjoy their work. I'm usually not the one to compare my stuff with that of other people unless they're asking ME for advice.

sometimes its pretty discouraging, but there are artist who soo much better, that actually want me to improve. Also i have the excuse that I do too many things (music, art, sculpting) but I'm not sure if I focus on one thing I would be a lot better at it.

I enjoy the works of those better than me. I study their works, see what makes them so good, so maybe in my next attempt I'll get a little bonus, as it were, on the "getting better by practice" front.

I have this fanfic that I haven't updated for far too long, and I'd really like to update it, or maybe even just start over because I've learned a few things since then, but it's not a feeling of inferiority that's keeping me down -- I just have an awful lot of other things to spend my copious amounts of free time on.

I know there are better writers than me. I allow myself to become further inspired by those writers. I'm very good at the technical aspects of writing but stumble a bit at being creative.
I just try to do my best. (And hope I finally finish my fan-fic before season 3 starts!)

@Operationgenesis Don't buy one, ever since I had to blame not owning Photoshop. And when I got THAT I had to blame it for being unwieldy. And then I basically ran out of excuses because there is better free software out there.
