This only lasted for... the Orange Islands, I think? Is that what they're called? Whatever. Tracy left to go study with Professor Oak and Brock came back, and pretty much stayed with Ash for all the following seasons until the most recent one, and this time it looks like he's gonna be gone for good like Misty.
