It makes sense if you ask me. Firstly there's the whole opposites attract thing, harmony needs chaos to really exist and vice versa. Also, Celestia is supposedly immortal, or at least very long lived. There aren't many other beings who can claim this, so if she wants a lasting relationship it would have to be with another immortal. Discord is the same and he also implies that they knew each other in the past, perhaps quite well. "Did you miss me? I missed you..."
And then of course, comes their personalities. Celestia is kind to everyone but we also see she has a playful side. Discord liked teasing her and it is an observed psycological fact that some guys will mock a girl to get her attention. It's also clear that Discord thinks ponies are beneath him, but Celestia and Luna have beaten him so they are the only ones who he could possibly consider being close to his level. And finally it has that element of forbidden relationship about it, with her being the good leader and him being the evil bringer of chaos. tl;dr dislestia rocks and I am over analysing |
