The creator of the tumblr posted this as the story behind it. "((There seems to be some confusion about what’s going with Sweetie Belle and Spike. So I’m going to run down (fan-canon) what happened that day of the Royal Wedding. It is (an occasionally used Equestrian) tradition for the ring-bearer to dance with a flower girl. Sweetie and Spike had a dance. It was the first time the two got to know each other a little better. The question arose as to why Spike was fond of Rarity instead of someone his own age. (Spike was 10, and Sweetie was 9). This led to some reality checks and soon brought Spike to believe that they weren’t met to be together forever. It’s a dragon’s instinct to have things at all times. If they don’t get what they want, they can get pissy (a la “Excess”) or depressed. As a confort tool, Sweetie Belle volunteers to dance with Spike again (as a friend). Then the music turns slow, and things happen. Sweetie realizes that she might actually have feelings for Spike. And Spike, following the man-code and dragon instincts, begins to fall for Sweetie Belle. It’s like a mini-Rarity! Suddenly, cheek kiss. It probably was from the heat of the moment, or maybe Spike was serious. And then they were a preliminary couple. Things got more serious in 2013. Spike reveals to Twilight about the crush, and Sweetie reveals it to Rarity. Then all of the Mane 6 and CMC got involved. Pressure was rising, and the two decided to just let it become public. Spike was involved in the earning of Sweetie’s mark on December 22, 2013. He played piano as Sweetie sang at a Hearth’s Warming Eve presentation at the school. Spike suddenly breaks the relationship during Winter Wrap Up 2014. Sweetie is devastated and wants to know the reason. This is where it gets complicated. Spike dumped Sweetie for someone else. And that someone is Apple Bloom. Sweetie’s personality starts to turn here. She becomes more enraged that Spike would be involved with her (seemingly) best friend. Eventually, the rage became what she is currently. The sad part is, SpikeBloom never worked out. Apple Bloom breaks off the relationship after realizing how it was tearing the Crusaders apart. (At this time, only Sweetie Belle has a mark). So SweetieSpike would’ve out if he hadn’t been such a dragon. Fast forward to current PC time (May 2015). Spike wants nothing to do with love. He helps at the Boutique, but not as often due to the worry of Sweetie turning him into Tartarusian fast food. But Sweetie still is fond of Spike, despite her hate for what he did. But it can never be due to shattered friendship. She turns bitter and lonely." |

WTF Applebloom! Anyway, nice fic. I can't believe Spike would do anything like that. In canon we don't really know why he likes Rarity but never feels the same thing for any other girl pony. Even though I think it would be funny if he hits on every mare like Johny Bravo. |

Wow cool long story but twilight was about 4 - 5 when Spike was "born" and their about 16 -17 now thats not fancannon thats real cannon so spike is about 13. But nice really big fancannon I like Rarity and Spike better but i could get behind that. |
