Because of the fundamental differences between this world and theirs. Our planet is a planet of evolution, survival-of-the-fittest dog-eat-dog biosphere where the last 4 billion years were diametrically opposed to notions like "kindness", and our species is a child of that planet. Just because it's our nature doesn't mean we can't try to change it. We evolved to be 'greedy, hate-ridden, misanthropic fuckheads' because of the conditions we started off in. Now that we've asserted that we dominate the planet, who's to say that we have to stay like that? Sure, it won't be a quick and easy change, but when is any sort of change ever easy? |

Missing the point. By "long and difficult change", I mean "nigh-impossible task that will take thousands of years." Think about it; it's just so logistically impossible to pull it off in only one lifetime. There are so many people on this planet who LIKE it this way, who LIKE to be greedy and prejudiced. Millions of them, possibly billions. It would take hundreds upon hundreds of years to change them |
