Shouldn't we have some rule about "OC" ponies? Here's my proposal:
For "OC" ponies to qualify as being relevant to My Little Pony, they must meet at least one of the following conditions: 1) They are drawn in the exact style of one of the canonical ponies from any official generation. 2) They appear in a recognizable canonical setting shown in any official generation. 3) They clearly possess unique traits of at least one canonical pony. 4) The dialogue strongly suggests an interaction with the canonical My Little Pony universe by mentioning any unique canonical character, setting, thing, or concept. |

^ Here's a rule!
1) No creating arbitrary rules for OCs to make yourself feel important, which everyone will ignore anyway. 2) Wild Heart is required to be an asshole to self-important people. 3) OCs are required to have either nice plots, nice boobs, or big dicks. |

How about no. No, no ruling of how OC characters should be, no idiotic set of traits they need to have. Just no. Has anyone not learned a damn thing from Art of the Dress? Common guys! Artists are trying to be creative, and you pulling them down for not being "cannon" with their work is only squandering their creativity! Wanna know what Pinkie, Twilight, Fluttershy, Rainbow, Rarity and Applejack all have in common with OCs? They all ARE OCs. Lauren Faust's OCs. They are original characters in their personalities and have developed into ponies we can all love. So why is it that when another artist takes the incentive to make a character of their own, all anyone seems to do is complain about it not being cannon or cannon-like? It disappoints me to no end to still have to see that sort of thing flying around so frequently. |
