Why should we leave her alone? She started the shitstorm that canned Derpy so now she's paying the price. It only seems fair. |
| Grachek #1399817 2 months ago |
She didn't start the shitstorm the community just placed all blame on her :/ |
| Anonymous #1399879 2 months ago |
I admit, I lol'ed. |
| majob #1399880 2 months ago |
She was the largest voice from the beginning, whining about Derpy's character. Her retarded fans followed suit and then some wrote one of the ten letters whining to Hasbro. She may not have all of the blame but she has a nice chunk of it. |
| Grachek #1399926 2 months ago |
Yeah and the rest where of the letters from concerned parents, she voiced her opinion and apparently it was enough to get plenty of death threats up to the point where the mlp crew actually had to post a request to the fans to stop harassing her. |
| Anonymous #1400247 2 months ago |
"Yeah and the rest where of the letters from concerned parents"
How many parents do you know that use the term ableist? She generalized all the Derpy fans based on trolls who sent her stuff like "Burn in hell", "I hope you eat cyanide and die". She collected the responses from these trolls and sent it to Amy to make her case seem more legit instead of contacting the proper authority on deviantArt. "I also linked her to just a sampling of the harassment and death threats I have recieved from people who seem to think I'm personally responsible for the changes. I think she should know what sort of fans she was pressured into pandering to." At the moment, her white knights will pretty much attack ANYONE who even dares to mention Derpy on her dA. There there is widespread hatred for the entire brony fandom with bronies being called immature manchildren, morons, idiots and even retards. But she's entirely fine with leaving these comments alone. She is terrible PERIOD |
| Grachek #1400323 2 months ago |
You have a point there, however even if she wasn't clearly in the right it just makes me wish the brony community acted differently than they did. |
| GarlicParsnip #1400425 2 months ago |
It's the brony community. There's a reason so many people avoid associating with that title like the plague IRL. It carries too much negative weight to even want to give people the idea you might watch the show.
As for the Yamino thing, everyone fucked up. Stupid ass bronies spamming nonsensical threats and messages, and Yamino and her gang for being so hypocritical and over-reactive. And for the Derpy thing? Ideally, what everyone should've done instead? Emailed Hasbro with messages (legitimate in appearance) complaining about other stuff in the show and literally requesting for everything to be removed. That would've gotten the message across much smoother than the clusterfuck that happened instead. |
| BattleGT #1400454 2 months ago |

Everyone involved in starting this 'ableist' Derpy bullshit: Fuck. You.

Yamino deserves to be trolled. Not because of her illegitimate, most likely manufactured criticisms of Derpy (seriously, how the FUCK is Derpy Hooves "ableist"?), but because she's an arrogant, condescending, pretentious bitch who believes she's better than everyone else.
Though, as annoying as Yamino is, her little cadre of white knights are FAR worse. Seriously, every time someone so much as alludes to Derpy on her DA page, the white knights go APESHIT. On top of that, there also seems to be a heavy air of hostility towards bronies among the Yamino white knights as well. I will say one thing though... Though I think Yamino does deserve to be trolled, the people who posted Yamino's dox and sent her death threats went WAY too far. I'm as upset about Derpy being changed as everyone else, but the fact of the matter is, Yamino had NOTHING to do with Derpy being changed. She has no power or control over Hasbro's decisions. She's not a celebrity. She's NOBODY... Just an entitled bitch who thinks she's better than everyone else because her DA account is moderately popular, that's all. Just saying this because there are plenty of bronies out there who still think Yamino and her camp are responsible for Derpy being changed. inb4tl;dr |

Do not give her too little credit. As we saw all it took was 10 hateful emails to make Amy doubt herself.
Ah, but I keep seeing posts like this on tumblr. Cheers my cold heart. "Okay. Normally I don’t post social justice stuff on my blog. I try to keep political stuff off here. This isn’t a politics or a social justice blog and if I wanted to post about that crap (and get into the headache-inducing flamewars that result) I would start one. But I can’t keep my mouth shut here. You know why? I’m a disabled person myself. I have diagnosed depression and anxiety disorders that I am on medication with. A few members of my family are disabled. Several of my friends are disabled. And you know what pisses us off more than anything? I mean, even more so than the people who follow the stigmas society has placed on those of us with disabilities, especially mental illnesses? It’s sanctimonious twits like this who claim to be “allies” of ours who clutch their pearls and wring their hands anyone someone says “stupid” or “batshit crazy” or creates a character who becomes well-loved who just happens to be wall-eyed and clumsy. We don’t need you asshats telling us what we must think and what we must find offensive. To have the nerve to tell us that we should find what you find offensive the same way as well is infantilizing, condescending, and fucking insulting. Novel thought yamino and all you other twits who are agreeing with him: Disabled people have brains! We can speak for ourselves! And we can decide for ourselves whether or not we find something offensive! Gasp, shock…we aren’t fucking children to be coddled. And you know what, everytime I see shit like this where some self-proclaimed “ally” is bawwing over something they deem offensive I can’t help but think that if they really were an ally they would get their asses off the net, stop playing PC police, and actually go do some work to help disabled people….like volunteer at a clinic, drive for Meals On Wheels, shit like that. You know, stuff that involves you getting off your high horse and doing some actual fucking good. So in closing, Mr. Yamino and others who are backing you up as your cheerleader squad, I have this to say in response: yamino: "For those unaware, in the latest episode she was shown clumsily destroying the town, talking with slurred speech, and was officially referred to as “Derpy.” She’s officially the mentally handicapped joke character, just like fandom has always wanted her to be." 1. Derpy is well loved in fandom and is a lot more than a “joke character”. In fact she often gets portrayed in fandom as anything but. 2. She’s only mentally handicapped if you choose to interpret that way. 3. It’s a fucking child’s cartoon show, get over it. 4. You don’t speak for me nor any other disabled person and your privilege is showing. Fuck off." |

First, Derpy was not removed. One scene, which was basically stomping her with a boot and pissing on her, was edited. Second, the idea that bullying is a natural and justified consequence of feeling offended is so blatantly hypocritical, privileged, and baseless that it doesn't deserve argument. #1400247 It's not much of a generalization if it's the exact behavior you're trying and failing to justify. #1401009 You could at least try to comprehend others' opinions instead of just screaming that you're not getting what you want. #1403610 Everything you mentioned in that post is exactly what you did in that post. #1405321 A large amount of incoherent screeching is still incoherent screeching. Though I'm sure you'd approve, since you consider it logic and consider logic an attack. |

"First, Derpy was not removed. One scene, which was basically stomping her with a boot and pissing on her, was edited. " If you're going to troll at least be upfront with it and don't try to disguise it as "logic". "A large amount of incoherent screeching is still incoherent screeching. Though I'm sure you'd approve, since you consider it logic and consider logic an attack." Ah, so you're exactly like yamino, who liked to delete comments from disabled people because they disagreed with her opinion. But hey, why should they have any say in the matter of what is offensive right? Get out of here you intolerant troll. |
| Anonymous #1429403 1 month ago |

You didn't even respond to anything. You just cried "troll". And that post was dismissed because it consisted of nothing but hate, rage, condescension, and hypocrisy. It was a troll post. It had nothing to do with "disagreeing" or any of the other reasons you posited, and disregarding it doesn't show "intolerance" of anything but bullying. |
| Anonymous #1429415 1 month ago |
If you're not a troll then you're probably one of the most unbearable people to talk to if you're like this in real life. |
| Anonymous #1429425 1 month ago |

As opposed to someone who spends every other sentence raging about what a horrible vile subhuman the other person is and how they deserve to suffer for having a different opinion? That's the real problem here. It's not about Derpy, it's about how people are acting like raging assholes about Derpy. If people were just making their cases as to why she was or wasn't offensive, there would be no problem. But things have gone so far beyond that, I can't think of a good descriptor. |
| Anonymous #1429441 1 month ago |
This is exactly what I was talking about. I told you you were obnoxious and you act like I said you deserve to have your fingernails forcefully removed every three weeks.

| Anonymous #1429457 1 month ago |
"If people were just making their cases as to why she was or wasn't offensive"
If you cared even in the slightest for the opposing viewpoint you would have seen countless arguments why she isn't offensive. To begin with, because she isn't disabled, having crossed eyes is not a sign of mental retardation, Derp came from the movie Baseketball and is not a slur for retarded. Hypocrisy? Where is the hypocrisy? You come here and purposefully say things like ""First, Derpy was not removed. One scene, which was basically stomping her with a boot and pissing on her, was edited.". Did you even watch the episode? |
| Anonymous #1429463 1 month ago |

Okay, first, you're severely whitewashing your own actions. A good post would contain no verbal abuse, and would instead address someone's opinion with respect to their status as a human being. Instead, you just went "GTFO troll, you're evil and dumb and deserve to be bullied and not listened to". Second, I'm not just talking about you as an isolated example. I'm talking about people's attitude in general, and your second statement isn't far off. People are so concerned with dehumanizing the Other Side and going to war against them that they basically trample on the sense of human decency that they used to justify their position in the first place. I'm half-convinced that many of the ragers don't really care about Derpy at all, and are just using the incident as an excuse to be bullies. |

You sure as hell got that right, but as far as I have seen most of them reside on the Derpy hating side. I mean hell have you seen the comments on yamino's dA profile? I don't post there myself but they have a ridiculous hate-boner for the entire fandom. And I get very much ticked off when I see people censoring comments by disabled people with opposing opinions, then claiming they "speak for disabled people". That's the height of hypocrisy if anything. |

>If you cared even in the slightest for the opposing viewpoint you would have seen countless arguments why she isn't offensive. I do, I have, and I agree. Derpy isn't an offensive character. >Hypocrisy? Where is the hypocrisy? The hypocrisy in saying that someone is acting rude while going out of their way to be as condescending as possible. >You come here and purposefully say things like ""First, Derpy was not removed. One scene, which was basically stomping her with a boot and pissing on her, was edited.". Did you even watch the episode? Well, since you asked, I'll explain. The problem with the scene wasn't that she was cross-eyed, or klutzy, or anything like that. The problem was that she was portrayed as being so implausibly incompetent that, while trying to perform an everyday task, she ended up causing mass destruction. Even just sitting down caused the floor to break underneath her. And the only interaction she had with others is angry yelling for being so stupid. There's nothing wrong with Derpy's character, but I didn't like how the scene treated her character. It felt more like an insult than a tribute. |

>You sure as hell got that right, but as far as I have seen most of them reside on the Derpy hating side. I'll take your word for it, but I've personally seen more of the opposite: people raging at the idea that Derpy might be handled offensively, or even the very idea of being offended by things. They get so vitriolic that I find it hard to imagine how the "fucktarded douchebags" they're complaining about could be worse. >And I get very much ticked off when I see people censoring comments by disabled people with opposing opinions, then claiming they "speak for disabled people". That's the height of hypocrisy if anything. I'll admit I don't know the whole story, but I don't think that's very fair. If the example posted in this thread is any indication, they were censored for being verbally abusive, not simply for having different opinions. He tried to explain why Yamino's actions were insulting for less-than-obvious reasons, but his own actions were extremely insulting for obvious reasons. And that ties into one of the core problems with the argument: people look at the judgements of others, and assume they're for nonsensical reasons, which are very different from the actual reasons behind them. |

Okay, let's see what we've got here... One guy degrading and dehumanizing Yamino and anyone who could agree with him, inventing the worst possible interpretation for his actions, then expressing a desire to attack him. He is the real problem. Then there's a guy who states that Derpy isn't offensive to him, but people should still respect those who think otherwise, because they're people. He's alright. The the first guy started playing the victim while blatantly contradicting his own behavior. He says he "doesn't condone" the bullies after explicitly dehumanizing his target, and he tries to paint the objections as "spitting on" Derpy, which disregards the question of what, specifically, they're objecting to. Yes, that is a good summary. One group simply has an opinion, the other complains about being victimized and stereotyped as an excuse to be exactly what they're stereotyped as being. |
| Anonymous #1429545 1 month ago |
*one group has an opinion and half of them force it on everyone else |
| Anonymous #1429558 1 month ago |

To clarify, I wasn't speaking in terms of "One side behaves themselves, the other doesn't." I was separating the people who are ostensibly on the same "side", with one group being assholes about it, and the other being resonable and polite about the same opinion. |
| Anonymous #1429574 1 month ago |
When one very small group of people send hate letters to one of the creators of the show demanding that they change it to fit their own narrow view of the world. When 10 people do that and 200 supporters are simultaneously ignored in favor of the haters. That's when a lot of heated feelings can grow.
One group started this, and it wasn't us. |
| Anonymous #1429622 1 month ago |
Okay, this seriously needs to stop. As of now the hate and warmongering is the entire problem. |
