For starters, make a damn spamlist with keywords!
When they out the copypasta stage, however... |

Pray that eventually all the spammers die of a strange case of simultaneous heart attack? |
| Yorec #1399042 2 months ago |
It is getting really fucking ridiculous |
| marioandsonic #1399043 2 months ago |
@ AppleDash
ALL HAIL THE MAGIC CONCH! *sits quietly* |
| Anonymous #1399048 2 months ago |
It isn't even just anon spam, actual accounts are doing it too you know, the whole system is infected and it won't get fixed easily. |
| Theopticals #1399053 2 months ago |
I agree, but at least it doesn't keep me from my ponies. |
| Anonymous #1399057 2 months ago |
If I have to register to comment, that'll just be incentive to finally register. So long as it stops the random spam bullshit I'd be for it. |
| Anonymous #1399063 2 months ago |
Maybe some kind of rule that blocks (or at least inhibits) spam-like typing? |
| Bolan #1399067 2 months ago |
Make all the anons get an account. |
| NightJack #1399069 2 months ago |
@AppleDash: The magic conch! I have to ask it something.
Oh magic conch shell, should i cross the genes of Hasselhoff and a horse? |
| PhilSrobeighn #1399072 2 months ago |
Block all Anonymous comments.
How can there be an uproar if they cannot comment? |
| Nebbie #1399076 2 months ago |
Anonymous comments need CAPCHA, just like the tags. Poor anon will need his reading glasses. |
| Anonymous #1399086 2 months ago |
Thanks Anon 081.
That helps the situation greatly... |
| Amethyst #1399090 2 months ago |
Ban anon comments, it's not like anons have opinions, or souls, or hearts or brains. They aren't even humans. |
| Cgeta #1399094 2 months ago |
I'd say that when there is a link in a comment that leads to one of the blacklisted spam sites, the comment won't get posted.
I guess that banning is useless? Next they will start to make the links in a way that they cannot be detected by having spaces between the words. But theoretically this should also be possible to detect. Generally it only needs to detect a certain string, where it doesn't matter if it is a link or not. So whenever someone makes a spam link, the text gets put into, whatever detects stuff, and it won't be possible to make the same comment again on other submissions. Also all other identical comments get erased then. I don't have any experience with websites though. |
| FeralSocks018 #1399124 2 months ago |
Did any other booru-sites have a similar problem? If so, we should find out what steps they've taken. As Petyr Baelish would say, "Knowledge is power." |
| Anonymous #1399139 2 months ago |
>it's not like anons have opinions, or souls, or hearts or brains. They aren't even humans.
Oh the irony... |
| Jack-o-Lantern #1399140 2 months ago |
Find out whos making the spam annnnddddd......

If the mods don't have it already, Capability to delete comments.
Right now I think that all they have is Comment Word Block, which while useful against spam with an 'address' in it, does nothing for spam lacking one. |
| Anonymous #1399145 2 months ago |
Violence is the answer. |
| Anonymous #1399162 2 months ago |
Maybe an Anon would type in something specific to differentiate regs from spammers? |
| SlayerBVC #1399169 2 months ago |
@FeralSocks108
And then we'll find out that they just sent the spammers here. Like that one South Park episode. |
| FeralSocks018 #1399182 2 months ago |
@Slayer
So we have to send them to California? |
| Jack-o-Lantern #1399186 2 months ago |

| SlayerBVC #1399216 2 months ago |
What I really want is for Eco to speak on this problem.
I know he prefers staying in the background as much as possible. But this is an issue that is affecting everyone's site experience, and he's pretty much accepted as the face of Ponibooru. |

There are only Captchas for adding/changing the tags, right? |
| Saint_Braeburn #1399235 2 months ago |
@Slayer
" ....and he's pretty much accepted as the face of Ponibooru."
But, I agree with the point you're making. |
| Gentle_Coltte_of_Leisure #1399240 2 months ago |
Recaptcha? We already have one for tags.
Oh! And make it pony-based like Clopfic's site! |
| Nebbie #1399241 2 months ago |
@Cgeta Regular expressions are the standard for string matching.
And they are TERRIBLE at any reasonable censorship. Simply putting in dollar signs for the letter s will make it undetected. links can just have a literal dot in them, or be tinyurl'd, or be put behind a redirect using some URL variables. It's much better to just put CAPCHAs over stuff and look out for spambot accounts. |
| Bolan #1399282 2 months ago |
Ban all fucking anons. I've had it. |
| Anonymous #1399293 2 months ago |
@Bolan
Bolan pls. |
| Yorec #1399301 2 months ago |
Honestly they should just force anons to make an account. That way they can be banned or blocked by people who use the ponibooru helper. Yeah its extreme but desperate times call for desperate measures. |
| Yorec #1399303 2 months ago |
And I mean the spammers be banned. |
| SlayerBVC #1399306 2 months ago |
283, 287, 288 just proved my point of how Comment Word Block isn't enough. There's no web address in there to block. |
| Bolan #1399314 2 months ago |
Why don't you talk to me anymore anon? We used to be such good friends.
Now all you say is pls...pls...PLS. |
| BabblingBrooke #1399322 2 months ago |
Too bad Eco has pretty much given up on the site. The only time it's dealt with and fixed is when severe problems arise. He dosen't do much anymore. |

I had a really bad issue with my filters a while ago. I emailed the address listed on the error page, and my problem got solved in like, five minutes. I don't know if it was Eco, but someone obviously gives a damn about this site. |

Let the Anonymous Comment, but hide/spoilers the comment, like in YT or somethin'.. |
| BattleGT #1399723 2 months ago |
Capcha comments are the best course of action without giving up anonymous posting. |
| Roxxas #1399864 2 months ago |
anti-spam screening. |
| Anonymous #1399871 2 months ago |
I'm kinda with Wasteland_Filly.
Since the spammers are adbots, having Anon posts hidden as a default setting (which can be turned off), ruins their goals since web crawlers won't find their spam. If they persist, then maybe suspend all anon posting for 2 weeks to see if they'll give up. |
| SlayerBVC #1400070 2 months ago |
@Roxxas
That would require approving comments. Yeah, too much time involved there. |
| Everypony #1400378 2 months ago |
Disable anonymous posting anyways |
| TheLoneLampman #1401071 2 months ago |
What about this: Add a check-box next to the post comment button that will discard the comment after hitting 'post' if not checked? It would be far less annoying than a captcha, I'd think. Though I'm not certain how crafty the spam bots are. |
| Cipher #1403001 2 months ago |
Disable anon posting. This isn't fucking 4chan. |
| Anonymous #1404024 2 months ago |
I'm fine with anon posting(of course I am).
A deletion option and captcha should do it for the spam. |
