I personally am just about sick of Derpy, and I blame her fans for it. I used to like her, but her fans ruined her for me by spamming her everywhere and generally acting like she's the most important character in the whole friggin' show even though to me she's nothing more than another background pony. |

I don't hate HER because, face it, she hasn't done anything. But after the whole Derpy drama I started hating those who made such a big deal out of it.
They added her. That's cool. They removed her. That's retarded but not vital to the show itself. I think she should remain as running gag in the background, not more. |

I for one am glad that Derpygate happened, because the controversy pretty much ensures that Derpy will be limited to background cameos from now on. I hope she never has a speaking role again, because the last thing we need is for her idiot fans to feel more validated than they already do. |

@253: Not just that-- Derpy has more images on this site than Spike, Big Macintosh, Luna, Trixie, or all of the Wonderbolts. People claim she's popular because "she represents the fandom," but I never asked to be represented by her, and I never voted for any of the stupid fanon stuff about her like muffins, mail delivery or Dinky being her daughter. She keeps getting forced out into the spotlight, and it's like no-one in the fandom is even allowed to question it anymore. |

However, the difference is that Derpy is mostly a creation of the fandom. I would love FiM regardless of the fan content surrounding it because it's such a great show. Derpy is just a background pony, and if you don't like the fandom surrounding her then there's not much to like. |

I happen to hate a good deal of stuff about her made by the fandom, but I don't hate her at all, if you let what you don't like that isn't canon get to you then you can never enjoy what is in the show.
I love Derpy from how she was just an error in the background that the animators decided to put in more spots, that's why I started to love her and why I always will, I'm not lettering the odd way of talking some like to make her have but i'm not leting that get to me, so I can enjoy her the way I like her. |

@371: And if you take away everything about Derpy that was not created by her fans, how much of her is actually left? She would just be a foolish background pony who annoyed Rainbow Dash in one episode and dropped a bunch of stuff on Twilight Sparkle in another episode. I would have had no reason to be drawn to her like I was drawn to the show, so she was pretty much a neutral entity that was good for an occasional laugh. When you throw all the baggage of her fandom on top of it though, it's hard not to have a negative opinion of her.
At least with MLP, once you've started watching the show you can appreciate how much fan content surrounds it. With Derpy, there's not really anything to get excited about unless you buy into the fandom surrounding her, because frankly she's not very interesting on her own. |

No, you're not the only one, but I'm actually more mad at the people still stirring up Derpy Drama and portraying her as a sadsack than anything. It's really just depressing and makes the situation honestly seem like a main character was killed off or something. About the only thing that really upset me about the edit made was that it was poorly-done and felt rather rushed. I'm perfectly cool with Derpy herself though, because she wouldn't exist without the fans. |
