Youtube poop is not porn and parents that let their children browse unwatched get no sympathy from me.

I'm all for responsibility and all but that NY times article was bunk. She did not see porn. It had to have been a YTP.

WHY CAN'T I STOP LAUGHING!?
Seriously though, R34. You can type in anything and eventually you'll find porn.
Go ahead. Try it. I'll wait.

OP have a point.

Just like here, people should tag stuff. But most terrible stuff is posted as Safe by trolls, so... not much to do here.

It's a shame that a kid had to witness something like that, but yeah it's partially the parents fault for letting a young child browse unsupervised. Letting a 6 year old browse the internet alone is bound to end badly...

It's entirely the parent's fault that she let her daughter browse unsupervised. But we should keep in mind that we share a common interest with six year old girls and if we can keep the yun'gins from stumbling upon stuff like Cupcakes (the Andrew WK PMV)

Kids should not be on the open, wild internet in the first place.
They are supposed to stay to hubworld.com and other child safe websites.
This is the internet afterall.

And porn is not allowed on youtube, so I don't get it.

And Ponies are definetally not the main YTP source. So why complaining about ponies instead of YTP in generall?

Yes we should tag and rate your content correctly but having read the related snippet from the article it was most definitely an overreaction. YouTube doesn't allow porn and the video described sounds like something that definitely isn't porn.

@Unicron: To be honest is people younger that you that are the concern, but at least this upload call for better tagging and not total censor so it's good with me.

I Belive that when we are smart enought to bypass programs, password and stuff like that we are mature enought to handle what in the box we had just open.

Responsible parents do not rely on parental control software to prevent their children from accessing inapropriate material online.

Responsible parents talk to their kids about sex before their kids go on the internet.
Yes, this does mean a birds and the bees talk at age 6. With anatomical accuracy. Covering pornography.

I see so many blaming the parents and calling them "irresponsible" for not supervising their kid's internet activities 24/7, but I'll like to make a defense for the parent of the six year-old. The site the little girl was on was YouTube. YouTube is a popular site where most people either watch funny videos or TV episodes. It isn't like the searches are packed full of naughty videos so I think most parents can afford to be a bit more lax on supervision here. You don't see me demonizing parents for letting their kids going on Neopets or Nick.com unsupervised. That's just silly.

Sometimes the websites you think are generally safe might actually contain material you don't want to expose to your six year-old kids. So the only parent error here is the underestimation of inappropriate material being easily found in the sidebar of a Pony video.

Besides, constant monitoring by parents is never a good thing. It really constricts a child on what they can do by themselves, and that will hinder their own desire to want to learn about things in this world. With us living in the new internet age where we can get information about the even most obscure topics, having zero ambition can really put you behind the curve.

TL:DR Don't criticize a parent for letting their kid go on YouTube by themselves. It makes you look like a jerk. Also parents looking over their kids' shoulder constantly is annoying to the kids.

We must admit that to find porn with no relate keywords you must have look very long (even with low probability it happend when we look to more than 100 vids) or be very unlucky.

The worst dramatisation people do about that is on the amount of time such thing happend. Of course be more polite on comments, tag well and ban the trolls who put fake links leading to them(on sites that can do ban of course) would be a good thing but they are already doing it and I think it's done correctly despite what some commenters say everytime something happen to make people think internet is the worst thing ever and look like cynical genius when they said ''I have no more faith in humanity''.

RyuSpike: Being responsible isn't the same as helicopter parenting.
At six years old you shouldn't be on the internet, or at least not on anything that isn't designated specifically as child-friendly. That is a parental fail at responsibility, simple as that.

I mean, hey, there's nothing wrong with leaving Lil' Bastard Jr at the Mc Donald's play place by himself while you go run off to the shoe store, is there?
Wouldn't want to smother him, after all. Besides, there's usually a nice older gentlemen that hangs out around there without any kids of his own to distract him from keeping an eye on yours, so rest easy, you know he's in good hands!
