They die in the opening sequence of the first episode.
The whole of season 3 is the mane cast seeing revenge, and those two replace Dash and Fluttershy. Once the villain is dead at the end of the Season 3 finale, they remove their wigs and contact lenses, and wash off the body-paint to reveal it was Dash and Flutters all along. Roll final credits. Season 4 starts, and Rarity and Applejack seemingly "die" around the same time Vinyl Scratch and Octavia show up... |
