It's not so much "the new episodes". Season 2 had very good episodes and season 2 had... other episodes. But it was the same with season 1.
It would be kinda hard to make a season where all episodes are equally loved by everyone. |

I might be wrong here but I don't think the decision whether a show or movies is good or not shouldn't be made by some "experts" but regular people. What's the use of having a show that's loved by critics but regular people don't like it and it gets cancelled? |

every season of every great show has meh idc episodes. like season 1 i wasnt ond of boast busters. season 2 dragon quest was boringish. the awsomeness of the other shows makes up for it. hell, canterlot wedding makes up for every fail episode ever |

if we're talking about personal liking, it's up to each one to choose how to watch a show(or not choosing) and where to focus the attention some focus on the comedy, others on the story, others on the characterization, or on other things or not focusing at all ...i never talked about "experts" :/ anyone can be critic if s/he wants to, or to say it in a different way, be the "expert" for yourself :3 |

At least just flat out say it in the face *I don't want to discuss/critique the show* is it too hard to admit that you either don't want/don't know/don't care ? I hate insincere people. Here... First with the obvious: Season 1 is quite a borefest whenever the mythical creatures or challenges like in Sonic Rainboom don't appear. Most of it's plots were designed for 10minutes only, instead of 20, thus it got a really slow flow. The dialogue is quite elementary school, with the ocassional fancy word thrown in it. Most of the comedy is kind of crappy-average, it was barely charismatic. The budget is pretty low, it reuses a ton of backgrounds. The screenwriting, storyboards and animation only gets shown off in that blue pegasus (Rainbow Dash)'s flying sequences. 3 Characters are interesting(Twilight,Pinkie,Dash) while the 4Th one is rare as hell in good traits(Rarity), the 5Th one(Applejack) is a complete texan stereotype, and the 6Th is a shy archetype with more screen time. Season 2 is a completely different story. It tried to be less of a borefest than S1 which it kind of succeded in, by using a frantic pace, but it ended up being a bigger lackfester than S1, with really terrible plots and execution on them. It turned into a gag show which tried too hard with weird shit thrown in your face to keep you excited. S2 emphaphised on the after effects and special effects, to make up for the lack of good animation and coordination, note how the flying sequences for Dash are gone. The theme music of the characters went missing too. The background composer had no coordination, no help, and he lacked any self-control of his own, just like the writers and the directors. S2 had worser scenes, because of the lack of coordination in all fields, not just the writing alone. Same for the voice acting where the voice director didn’t give a damn and the voice actors either stopped acting or they stopped being enjoyable to the ears. The second season lacked any kind of control(no EI mark too) or self-awareness, it didn’t know what the hell it was doing, it had no plan, there was no logic in it’s actions, it was just a mess of other cartoons, it was like Cow & Chicken or Looney Tunes, but with clean, flash designed horses in it. All the characters's actions are contrived, it's not even smoothly artificial anymore like in some episodes of S1, this time it's forced and right in your face. They all serve for comedy relief, or catering the plot, instead of the plot catering to them. The main 6 are now jerky enemies than friends. /thread |

Even though you were talking about Season 2 in general, it's really hard for me to tell which parts of the episodes in there did you find lacking or comedy thrown at your face. The only example I only found from you was that the Sonic Rainboom episode seemed to be your favorite, that unless they fight a monster that threatens the characters. |

The show-breaking flaws are when an episode is too boring for some people because of the flow, or because of a huge lack of good scenes meant for a wide group, or the main 6 act like enemies to each other, not to mention forced and artificial writing. In S1 it was just artificial, but in S2 it's also artificial and forced. I don't count people that lower their standards for what they watch, heck I get freaked out when I hear that Adventure Time, Regular Show and Homestuck have fans. Or some other obscure movies like Star Chaser(a rip off from Star Wars) has fans. Or even the reboot of The Grinch with Jim Carry, or Bayformers are enjoyed by people. ** Look I don't care if you enjoy it or not, but do not debunk my points of views for what you like and do not tell me what's good or bad with no evidence whatsoever. ** And the only time when people genuinely talk about the show was on Saturdays and Sundays inside forums and imageboards, when the episodes used to air, and I definately haven't seen show discussion on Ponibooru. |

Show discussions happen frequently enough, it's just not predictable when, where, or about what aspect. We're only up to about 1.4 million comments by now on 180k images. If it was "bad enough" to a broad enough range, it'd be making headlines. You KNOW how we love our mini-shitstorms over even minor stuff, right? Mind if i answer this for him? i think i may have watched so many critics that i've started to learn from them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=Uk7NDBKuh3g#t=841s Scene starts okay with Dashie's rainbow showing and being a fast mary sue which she is, but the camera doesn't follow her in a third person view and the speedlines aren't visible enough.(if there was even any whitelines in there) Flutterrant mode time. That episode didn't have Rainbow's guitar theme, The Ride Of The Valkries was a terrible music choice for that part(inb4 rage) and most of the camera working was shit... i think it had the camera too zoomed out, and there were too many 2D shots. The writing was also crap, Rainbow's dialogue was annoying, same for that part where she gets trapped by the avalanche, when in Dragonshy she could dodge it by doing wheels in the air. Rainbow wasn't doing enough tricks/aerial maneuvers(is that how you spell it?). Rainbow Dash was also way too slow. There weren't enough speed lines; whitelines for action sequences, watever Overall it wasn't intense enough. 2/10 would not watch again. ... But you know... if you loved it or thought it was great then good for you I think that's about it |

While the Ride of the Valkries is up to personal choice, it's not like the episode also included an original song that's up for a Daytime Emmy award or anything like that! Oh wait... Camera was too zoomed out? In a gorge? I'm leaving this one alone. Do you also think that she was flying fullspeed? Or leaves rainbow trails no matter how fast she goes? She zipped off at the start and cruised the rest of the time. Those pets sure as shit aren't going to break mach 1. You can call it crap all that you want, but please give some better examples next time. That's just nit-picking for the sake of trying to dislike it.
