Most of her suffering came after the fact, to be honest. She was pretty much asleep for a millennium, and when she woke up nothing was the same. Everyone but her sister was dead, society was completely different, and she was completely out of touch.
Truth be told, her banishment has just started. |

Nightmare Moon is Luna. Luna is Nightmare Moon. Samepony=Samepony @Impious Wat? Misinterpretations everywhere! All Lauren said was that Nightmare Moon was Luna influenced by dark magics. And the thing about dark magic in lots of fiction? Usually it warps the personality. This is very different from possession. If Luna was comatose in her own body while another entity was in control what would she have to be sorry about? Nightmare Moon was Luna warped by dark magic, not some separate entity possessing her. Not once does Luna refer to Nightmare Moon as a separate entity and instead refers to Nightmare Moon as she would herself. Because she is herself. You on drugs is still you after all. |

It's easy to get confused when everyone is putting words in Lauren Faust's mouth and claiming she said more then she did. It helps to track down the exact quotes and keep them in mind whenever anyone is discussing them because most are just working off what people told them about the quotes it seems. |

That's not the point. The problem is when people say some things are canon that just aren't and spread the ideas around. Such as the concept that the CMC released Discord when in truth they didn't have much to do with that at all. |

What's more interesting there is Luna isn't an adult. Was her aging process frozen while she was on the moon? Was her age regressed by the Elements of Harmony? How much older is Celestia anyways? Was Celestia closer to Luna-sized before Nightmare Moon happened? And as you said, the usage of "Evil magic" is vague but it still doesn't seem like possession to me. |

i was addressing those who already knew the distinction between the canon version and the fanon one, who brought up the issue, and looked a bit upset about it for the more details on luna trasformation/possession in NMM you could see each single consciousness as separate entities this goes in multiple personality territory, but looking at it this way, luna's consciousness(pre trasformation) was buried/covered under an other consciousness which was NMM being NMM something which developed from luna and took over or an external entity makes little difference, if one focus only on the pre-trasformation luna's consciousness point of view (and i guess seeing NMM as an alterated state which didn't alterated the original luna, but alterated only the results, not the source) if one really wants to use the term possession, in this case it would be a self-possession (assuming NMM originated from luna) that's how i would explain/re-elaborate this >>85838 but all these details and in-depht thinking isn't that useful or essential i think, and what faust said wasn't even necessary to get to these conclusions NMM getting sealed into the moon was enouth clear in the episode this one was a nice take on it >>23809 |
