I have no strong opinion one way or the other. |
| Impious #1389693 2 months ago |
They're all pretty white tbh.
But if they were humans in the show, you know they'd be forced to be diverse. As if all friendship circles contain every single fucking race. |
| Anonymous #1389696 2 months ago |
It's not racist to do it, but it is racist to demand others do it/not do it. |
| Anonymous #1389703 2 months ago |
i dont think it racist, but it isnt inclusive/representative of the modern multicultural society, but its such a small part of it that its fine to make them what ever race you wish.
that bieng said indian TS is so cute :) |

I like to think of their mane color as a race. Much like in Doug, where instead of adhering to races we're familiar with, they have green and purple-skinned people. In this show, we don't have to think about things like race because it doesn't fucking matter. They are all created equal. |
| Bolan #1389729 2 months ago |
^ Derp. I meant COAT color. |
| ProfessorOfHoers #1389735 2 months ago |
I don't care. |
| Theopticals #1389747 2 months ago |
I imagine them all as white in my head, but that might just be an unconscious action because I'm white myself. I never really think about it though, I prefer them as ponies and they will stay that way. |
| KirbyfanNeox #1389759 2 months ago |
I literally cannot imagine the ponies humanized as any race other than white.
Even Zecora. Is there something wrong with me? (On a similar note, I can't see any of the male ponies being gay but I'm totally fine with lesbian ponies. Is there something wrong with that, or is it just the whole "Girl On Girl Is Hot" thing?) |
| Dragoon #1389765 2 months ago |
Nether. Heck, it's their art, people souldn't say it's racist in the first place. |

Are you the guy who asked "how can I troll bronies," a while ago? |
| NightJack #1389770 2 months ago |
Don't care, let the artist do as they please. |
| BattleGT #1389773 2 months ago |
@ Saint Braeburn most likely yes |
| Saint_Braeburn #1389779 2 months ago |
@Kirby
Yes, you thought Zecora was a pony. |
| Anonymous #1389789 2 months ago |
It makes sense that way. They're all part of the same civilization, and Equestria seems at least a little xenophobic. |

Interesting idea @Impious If you can't act like a decent human, then kindly shut up and get out |
| Anonymous #1389853 2 months ago |
It's only racist to make them all the same kind of white. |
| Karadros #1389867 2 months ago |
I'm cool with it; I prefer white girls. |
| TheLoneLampman #1389880 2 months ago |
It's more racist if you make one non-white just to seem not racist. |

Ponies are white.
Buffalo are Native American Zebras are Black Donkeys are Mexican. |
| Anonymous #1389929 2 months ago |
No, it's not. But it's up to the artist. |
| Saint_Braeburn #1389940 2 months ago |
@Anon923
Because, Crankie Doodle sure sounded Mexican! |
| Saint_Braeburn #1389969 2 months ago |
To answer OP's question, No, it's entirely up to the artist.
@Impious There actually pretty pony-ish in my opinion. |
| Crazael #1389970 2 months ago |
I personally don't care too much about the race artists prefer to use. I'm much more interested in the quality of the art and the subject matter of the picture. |
| Anonymous #1390012 2 months ago |
Here's my stand: voice actresses are white, characters are white, unless explicitly stated otherwise, which hasn't happened. |
| Saint_Braeburn #1390028 2 months ago |
@Anon012
Pinkie's singing VA is Chinese. Does Pinkie change races when singing? And does this mean that Twilight Sparkle is Jewish? |

All characters that aren't ponies seem to be of different race. Zecora, Cranky Doodle, that french griffon dude. Remember that scene in DQ where it was a parody of Huck Fin? Spike was Huck Fin but Nigger Jim ain't no pony.
Dragons seem to be an exception. The dragon/pony thing seems to be referencing gender. Anyway, I don't think its racist to humanize all the six ponies as cock-asians. |
| Anonymous #1390585 2 months ago |
If they're drawn well I don't really give an ass. |
| Saint_Braeburn #1390604 2 months ago |
@Anonymouz
The French are a race? |
| bamakid1272 #1390638 2 months ago |
No it isn't. I see them all as being white mainly because of Zecora. When I saw that, it was pretty much set in stone in my head that zebras are the ones who would be black when humanized.
And donkeys could be Mexican when humanized, and as a rebuttal to Saint, maybe Crankie could just be of Mexican heritage, but born in But while we're on the topic, I have to ask how exactly did Twilight get picked to be the one who is usually made Afircan American? I'm not saying I'm against it, so don't start bitching, I'm just curious. |
| ThatJJdude #1390670 2 months ago |
Well, I think you humanize them in the races you're most familiar with. I thought of them as Latinas, some more white than others, but that's 'cause I'm mexican. I don't think it's racist to make 'em all white, but it's, as many have said before, racist to ask people to make them all white. |
| -Lunacy #1390754 2 months ago |
Well I don't go for very many ponies being black, just mainly Zecora. |

It's not racist to draw them all white, but it's not exactly realistic. In a large group of people, not everyone is going to be thin and white. I like seeing diversity among the designs because it's more interesting, but if someone doesn't do it I'm not going to call them racist. They just have different head canons then me. |
| Ananonymous #1440907 1 month ago |
it's not racist
artists who want to be called as such, when humanizing the characters, should pick a real existing place on earth, see the etnic composition, and humanize the characters according to the etnic population of the place they picked that way it's normal to have them all white, all black, or with mixed etnic groups instead, of drawing them all and at the end picking a character at random to color in the name of politically correctness or creating unreal/improbable etnic compositions since the characters are supposed to live in the same village, in the same country, and unless the artist wants to give them pony skin colors, there should be some sort of coherence in their appearance that's how i see the matter :3 i'm ok with any etnic composition, until it isn't(doesn't feel) forced |

Choosing one race over another isn't racist in and of itself, though the reasoning and reactions can be quite racist. Given that they are technicolor equines, going with more than "I felt like it" is probably overthinking it. Giving Twilight Sparkle dark skin because she has dark fur makes about as much sense as giving Celestia a deep tan because she manages the sun. Both have equal justification. You could claim that fur color is equivalent to skin tone or outfit color, and it makes about the same amount of sense.
If you really want to apply any kind of logic to converting them to human races, (Weee! Overthinking!) the usual problem is that they aren't diverse enough. The Mane Six already have at least three races between them. Having them all be the same race is kind of weird because they are already multi-racial, if not in races that humans recognize. Earth Ponies, Pegasi, and Unicorns are all different races, and possibly have further categories within themselves. Don't complain about somebody stuffing the Mane Six with extra races for diversity, because they're already an ethnically balanced group. |
