Did they even say Celestia and Luna were gods?
I forget. |
| Impious #1389430 2 months ago |
I imagine it's a rare recessive gene unique to females of the royal bloodline. |

Whoops, I read *Cadence* as *Celestia* |
| Gundlach #1389452 2 months ago |
If wings and horns are sex-linked traits then only females are able to be alicorns.
It's got to be more complicated than that though. |

@1389430
Makes sense to me... Over-analysis is fun! |
| Jack-o-Lantern #1389466 2 months ago |
@Imp
Females only? Guess I shoudn't make Eco an alicorn? |
| Deserter #1389478 2 months ago |
As I said before in another post: Luna and Celestia are goddesses shaped like all the races of ponies, since earth ponies don't any defining physical characteristics they look like winged unicorns, Cadence is just that: a unicorn with wings. Giving the unicorn and pegasus traits in Cadence I'll say their offspring has a 3/4 chance of being and unicorn and 1/4 chance of being a pegasus, not counting the possibility of recessive Earth pony genes nor possible Alicorn children. |
| Jack-o-Lantern #1389521 2 months ago |
Cadence is an alicorn, deal with it. |
| Anonymous #1389539 2 months ago |
Unicorn with wings. |

Alicorn demi-god.

@Deserter
It all comes down to personal interpretation. Cadence might be a winged unicorn (Pegacorn) or a very young Alicorn. Might be a family thing, or a rare genetic mutation. Celestia/Luna might be Gods, might be just a very powerful pony. Discord might be more powerful than Celestia/Luna, or as powerful as them. Did Queen Chrysalis get more powerful than Celestia or did Celestia just use a weak spell to avoid collateral damage, and had her own magic pushed into her. Nearly everything is possible, when no canon explanations are given. Which gives fiction writers a hell of a lot of freedom with stories. |
| Saint_Braeburn #1389637 2 months ago |
Cadence is an Alicorn.
I don't see why people can't accept that. @Shader Didn't Queen Chrysalis say it was Shining Armor's love that made her so strong? |
| Jack-o-Lantern #1389644 2 months ago |
Shader has ended thread! |
| PVRyohei #1389756 2 months ago |
My headcanon is pretty much the same as Impious, except it's not female exclusive. Celestia and Luna are the only two godlike alicorns, while other alicorns are members of the royal family who just have standard pegasus and unicorn power. |
| Shader #1389776 2 months ago |
@Saint_Braeburn
Yes, but did her love make her more powerful than Celestia was capable of, or did Celestia not take into consideration the power boost from the love and miscalculate? >I don't see why people can't accept that. And I don't see why people can't accept that their others might interpret things different. You think one way, others think a different. You say Alicorn, I say Pegacorn. You are no more correct or incorrect than me, or anyone else. Please don't be so arrogant to think otherwise. I keep getting into this argument with people. |

I guess no one here checks the fucking wiki. It lays it all there. And no, they were never gods. Ever. They never even said alicorn on the show, not even the first episode. |
| Anonymous #1389978 2 months ago |
They're winged unicorns. Check the bios first, you idiots. |
| Saint_Braeburn #1390011 2 months ago |
Actually, one of Alicorns definitions is Winged Unicorn.
So yeah, the question is moot. |
| Stargazer #1390352 2 months ago |
I recall one of the official French comics having a very young male alicorn didn't it?
Although it's blueblood's Cutie Mark if I recall? Anywho, ATM I'm keeping the whole Imortal thing a Luna/Celestia Specific subject. At least for now till something a tad more solid comes up. Most of what made Celestia/Luna seem special ATM has been a given out sort of speak withen season 2 to an extend. ( Biggest one being that in the Heartswarming Eve episode it stated that Unicorns could change day to night and vise versa ) and the only thing not really explained so far was how they have such significantly longer life spans ( wither it be true immortality or eternal youth or whatever ). Will people whine if the show gives us a Canon answer that doesn't follow fanon? I really hope not. But till something more solid comes around I'm going to stick with my hypothesis that the immortality is specifically a Luna/Celestia bit and doesn't extend to Cadance/Cadence ATM. It really doesn't effect me over all. If they ever go into details on how it came to be I'll enjoy the show none the less. |

@Stargazer:
Everyone knows those comics are borderline crack and that Leon doesn't count. |
| Dale #1390387 2 months ago |
Blueblood's bloodline is legitimately royal. Because of this, the family occasionally throws a throwback--an alicorn.
That's my headcanon. Who got pregnant by some guard and titled the bastard is left as an exercise to the reader. |

Anonymous@1390373 said: I know. But that is the closest to Canon we got to an actual male Alicorn. I was just kind of tossing it out there. |
