Probably the saddest thing fluffy I have ever read.
It's actually damn interesting to have a humans sadness described from the mentally stunted standpoint of a fluffy. I also feel terrbily sorry for Rocket. I really want him to make amends with his and the herd's past. Godspeed, Grape and Belle... Godspeed.  |

I was seriously teetering between advancing the plot towards the 'Tom and Jerry' stage or fleshing out the Main Characters.
I decided that it would best to do some backstory first, and then do the beginning of the 'Winter Phase' in the next chapter. |

'Tom and Jerry' is where the Farmer Guy ends up dealing with Feral Herds who also want in on the Farm, being it's a Safe Place with a Hooman that doesn't hurt Fluffies, and has lots of food.
Of course, Farmer Guy is a bit of a soft touch and doesn't exactly want to see Fluffies suffering, but he's also painfully aware that he can only keep so many Fluffies before they eat themselves out of house and home and then starve and suffer anyways. So he'll come up with various ways to take in members of the Herd that display attributes he finds likeable, and then chase away the Herds, either through a Nerf Gun Barrage or making a loud enough noise to scatter them. I also have plans for a segment where he makes a Fluffy Obstacle Course in a moment of boredom, and the shenanigans as Fluffies 'race' to the Finish Line for the Prize. |

Wow. They just left Waffle to be assraped. Even humans aren't that magnificently bastardous.
I hope the herd all dies in fire now. All my sympathy for them has just left the building and gone to Vegas. It's probably not coming back. It'll probably stay there working as a crack whore to pay back all its soon to be astronomical gambling debt. Wait...what was I talking about? |

Well, as far as Fluffies are aware, Hugs are good things.
Waffle just found out that not all Hugs are Good Things. I'm half tempted to bring him back into the story, but an Asshole Overload between Rocket and Waffle would likely be imminent. |

Giant_Neckbeard, glad I stumbled across all of these stories, it's very surprising they're so well-written.
Caught one of your comments about you taking care of kittens-that goes a long way in explaining how you handle this kind of subject matter so well. Good man. The world could use more people like you. Couple of things: first it's a bit troublesome to navigate your stories on Ponibooru. You said Pastebin makes your anti-virus flare up, but have you looked in to other more text-based sites? Secondly, you know if you took out the more Internet-y parts to these stories and made them about cats or the like you might have something suitable for the general public. I've noticed other comments say "On the Rocks" in particular is very Watership Down-esque and I agree. Anyway, thanks a lot for writing and sharing these. Looking forward to seeing more in the future. Good luck with everything! |

Oh, and because you have responded well to constructive criticism before I'm torn on how your write your antagonists. Sometimes you do a good job having characters cause conflict in the story without villainizing anyone which is great to see. Also in "On the Rocks" you established the antagonists characters motivations well and seem to really know how to write from an antagonist's perspective. However in the story with the Waffle and perhaps elsewhere with Smarty Friends it seems like you stopped short with the characterization-to shallow to be a good antagonist but being written as the bad guy and subsequently having bad things happen to them makes it seem like the characters' only crime is being disliked by the author. Although clearly you can't write from every character's perspective (though you have shown you handle multiple perspectives well) this could be alleviated by not piling on negative qualities and events on one character's shoulders. A character can still be a villain even if everything about them isn't villainous.
Moreover when you do want to have a character suffering for laughs you should try to make sure your audience won't sympathize with them. This is where characters like the neighbor's dog or the Billy Twins are useful. Not every character needs to be deeply explored and using throwaway characters like this can both create conflict for the story and satisfy an audience's desire for retribution without alienating readers who empathize with the more fleshed-out characters. I think you should bring Waffle back, especially if the farmer feels somewhat sorry for him. I could see their relationship similar to Frankenfluffy and Dale the Asshole Scientists. |
