Ah, delicious pedantry. |
| Anonymous #1386977 2 months ago |
Technically, yes, but being "anthro" in the furry fandom sense is quite different. It refers specifically to a humanoid body shape, which they don't have in-show. |
| RepentantAnon #1386980 2 months ago |
does that make aesop the king of anthro fanfics? :D |
| Theopticals #1386984 2 months ago |
Anthromorphism refers to the anatomy structure more than anything. Just because they behave like humans don't make them Anthromorphic. |
| Anonymous #1386992 2 months ago |
What if they are anthro in humanoid shape, but have the intelligence of regular horses?
Would they still be anthro in the full sense of the word even though they would eat grass, neigh and get leashed and put into a stable like an actual animal? |

Not by a long shot, smart ass -_- |
| Gittonsxv #1387008 2 months ago |
um i dont understand everything but isint this basically saying "humans have hair so everything with hair is partly human"? |
| Karadros #1387018 2 months ago |
No, Gits. Not at all. |

@008
The OP meant by human traits is that the ponies can talk, set up government, business, literature ec. things that only humans can normally do. |
| nyxabuse #1387022 2 months ago |
anthropomorphic isn't the same as 'anthro'
the ponies are anthropomorphic, since they have a lot of human traits, but they are not 'anthro' since they aren't shaped like humans except with horrific flat hooves where their hands should be. |
| ack123 #1387048 2 months ago |
By the definition, yes, these ponies are anthropomorphic, however, they are not, "anthro," and I'm relatively sick and tired of furries assuming we're into the same thing, or on the same page because of that definition. |

Anthromorph Means something along the lines of "Human shape", So no, They're not anthros. |
| LordVulpix #1387159 2 months ago |
Anthromorphic = human shape.
Anthromorphise means to give it human characteristics. Sides, nothing wrong with anthros of any types. Even Tom is an anthro since rarity hurt his feelings when she dumped him. |
| Anonymous #1387161 2 months ago |
OP has anthro confused with personification (the retard). Personification is the giving of human traits to non-humans for the purpose of a story (learned this in 6th grade.) Anthro is drawing a nonhuman character as almost entirely human but with some nonhuman features (how the fuck can you get these confused.) |

No. |
| Sonlir #1387430 2 months ago |
As far i know (at least furry fandom wise).
Anthro - Humanoid shape 2 legs 2 (or more) arms. Taur - Animal lower torso. Anthro torso starts where the animal would have it's head.. Quad - Regular animal but with humanlike inteligence. Feral - Regular animal. Imo ponies qualify as Quads. |
| Anonymous #1388561 2 months ago |
By the most literal definition of the word. BUt that would mean just about every animal on tv is anthro.
Anthro on the internet means something specific |

Lets clear up a few things.
They are anthropomorphic to some extent, like nearly every other cartoon animal. A lot of people think anthro = furry, but there's big differences. Sonlir@1387430 said:
:P LordVulpix@1387159 said: that works too |
| Anonymous #1388926 2 months ago |
Then all non human characters are anthro |
| TheLoneLampman #1389409 2 months ago |
^ IF they act human in any way, then technically yes.
And please stop trying to equate the two fandoms. They only share a weak commonality-- human behavior and animals. Mostly 'we' like them as animals acting human, not as humans acting like animals. Opposite ends of the string, as I see it. |
| TheLoneLampman #1389441 2 months ago |
I don't think I worded that very well, but I hope you get what I mean. |
