Dunno the only shitstorm i actually remember was the Derpy drama.
And the censoring of a character that was a hard shoutout to bronies was shitstorm worthy IMO. As for the rest? Hmm there was some drama about Cartoonlion being selected as "artist of the week" on EqD. That would be all i know of. |

People really even blow the shitstorms out of proportion, which is hilariously ironic. When something is labelled a "shitstorm" in this fandom, it could be as small as 20 or 30 people having a loud argument. I don't call that a shitstorm.
Overall, we haven't had a big one yet, because the others have never lasted for any more than two weeks. |

People in fandoms always wonder about the shitstorms, what they really need to wonder about wheter the fandom can survive a shitstorm without breaking base. Most do this well without permanant damage.

Well, the Trixie thing is linked to TMMDW. People on EQD (a link again) seriously expected it to be her and were really angry. To a lesser extend ponychan, too.
With the fetishes it depends. Bondage as a fetish will barely do anything. Post a picture about Scat/Guro/Vore, preferably with the CMC and there will be a shitstorm. Not big enough to actually break the base but there are still people who don't know how to filter. And major shitstorms, that really shake the whole fanbase... only Derpy and Vinyl I suppose. |

There's no real broken base. The Derpy thing was mostly everyone against Hasbro's and the minority's decision.
Generally we're rarely against each other but more together against external things. What some may call a huge shitstorm is either something that they haven't really followed and don't know much about, or something that is just two people fighting each other. Most of the time people simply share their opinion and discuss without having any anger at all. It's just normal talking. Vinyl's eye color is an example. It's just very few people who had some serious problems with it. |

The Derpy shitstorm was mostly just a bunch of really loud people who refused to let it go. For now most of them have shut up and moved on, although most fans tried to avoid getting dragged into the drama I think. |

Depends on your definition of a shitstorm really.
There have certainly been arguments, but yeah; there have been no mayor schisms in the fandom. Sure there are cloppers and non cloppers, nyx haters and lovers, those who are still upset about Derpy and those who've moved on ect. ect. But overall: Despite a few arguments, (which compared to the drama you can find just about anywhere else on the internet are really not so bad), we all still get along. (also sometimes it seems people have trouble telling the difference between a discussion, an argument and a shitstorm) |

Most of our shitstorms tend to burn out quickly. Even the Derpy Drama was only really intense for about a month. Compared to Star Wars, Harry Potter, Avatar, and anime fandoms, we don't really get many serious long term shitstorms. |

The words don't carry as much weight as they used to. Trolling is people acting painfully stupid. Most shitstorms are mild disagreements. Everyone is trying to stir the pot but there's barely any ingredients in there.
Assholes that got Derpy changed: Actual shitstorm and more directed at those who caused it. Vinyl's eye color: Completely fabricated shitstorm by those who want it to be one. The show and fandom are pretty strong glues that hold us together, neither as a whole have had more than a minor bump in the road. |
