In Homestuck it's usually a relationship built on mutual hate. In TvTropes terms, it basically means Foe Yay.
Not sure if it's being used that way here, though. |

Clubs is when a third party is called in to prevent the foe yay from going critical, and diamonds is just plain supportive. |
