You hear of people combining their surnames? It's fine but imagine this if you will. A couple gets married and combine their surnames. Their child adopts that name. Later in life that child grows up and marries a person who's parents have also combined their surnames. What happens when those two combine their surnames? Will they have four surnames? |

I don't even think ponies have surnames. Twilight and Shining Armor sure don't have the same one, even though they're siblings.
Plus, I think I've heard Rarity refer to herself as "Rarity Unicorn" before. |
