Well, you also have to remember the two times she did defeat her enemies(Nightmare Moon and Discord), she had help from the Elements of Harmony as a means of making her go from semi-phenomenal, nearly cosmic entiry, to a Phenomenal Cosmic entity.

That's almost not an argument though. No soldier is complete without a weapon, after all. And she's had centuries to perfect just about every spell there is. She IS Twilight's mentor, after all.
I think she was just out of practice, and didn't take Chrysalis nearly as seriously as she should have. Surely she knew about Changelings beforehand? The strongest of a species that grows powerful off of stolen love impersonating perhaps the most loved mare in the country? That should have been cause for both concern and evasive action. She got cocky; She's ruled a peaceful utopia for centuries and maintained the peace, never mind the fact that she's out of practice. Talk about a wake-up call. We need a training montage scene with Celestia, set to Guile's theme. And she should be wearing legwarmers and a headband. I'm throwing money at my laptop and nothing is happening. |
