After 3 mandats (don't know the english for that) of a Right wing president, I'm curious to see what M. Hollande will be able to do... either I just couldn't see sarkozy's face anymore... he was à lame president (IMO). Now he'll do just like he said "casse toi pov con"

@1378106 : The big problem of Sarkozy was his lack of communication and the fact he appeared like if he was distant from people. But he was a good president and he saved us from an economic crisis, whatever people think.

Ni l'un ni l'autre n'était souhaitable de toute façons, je vous conseil cette vidéo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0M0cYrzLGYM elle explique très bien pourquoi c'est le système lui même qui est le problème.

As far as I heard, Hollande favors gay marriages, euthanasia, retirement of the French soldiers from Afghanistan and retiremen from work at 60 for everyone.
The first two are debatable but are a matter of personal sensitivity and don't affect the economy; the third actually helps the economy but not the foreign affairs and I think the French won't like it.
The last one is a demagogic irresponsible proposal and seriously scares me.

^The last one was actually already effective until 2010, when Sarkozy pushed the legal retirement age up to 62 (and from 65 to 67 for receiving full rate pensions).
A large part of the opinion was against this reform and there were protests in the streets for weeks when it was passed.

That doesn't make it economically sustainable for France. In a nation where the average life span is 82 years, there's no way they can give pensions for 22 years, collecting contributions for... what, 35 years only?
The European Union is pushing the member states to raise the retirement age.

With an unemployement rate of nearly 10% raising the retirement age will surely be super effective.

So you want to lower it? Creating jobs like that is like paying the national debt by printing new money: it just doesn't work like that. It may give some results in the short term, but it crumbles in the long.
Too bad that the common citizen doesn't understand that, and Hollande does care about the common citizen, so... retirement at 60, instead of taking some other complicated and more effective measures to create new employment.

But meh, maybe I'm worrying about nothing: Hollande can't simply do that, because the European Union won't allow it.
